I’ve been going to Dona Tota for years. And the service and food used to be great. But idk if it’s just this location but yikes. The people working just seem annoyed you’re there. I come here because I live around here so unfortunately it’s the closest. The quality has taken a nose dive. Last time I came, the girl was very unfriendly and my Gordita was hot on the outside and cold on the inside. I just popped it in the microwave and ate it anyways. Even the guy that prepared it just dropped it on the counter and walked away with no words. But today I just paid almost $7 for TWO canned sodas! I did a double take when she said the price. I can buy a 12 pack at Walmart for that. I understand inflation but that’s ridiculous. I’m not paying ridiculous prices for medium warm food and bad service. And it’s not busy or the end of the day when I go so it’s not an excuse that they’re tired or overwhelmed. It’s just...

I was going to leave a review on Trip Advisor, but their address was not showing as available: 923 N Loop 1604 E #115, San Antonio, TX 78232 My husband and I love to support small businesses and we are always looking for small hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Their place is clean, the manager friendly, and the gorditas are deliciously yummy without the guilt. In Mexico, gorditas are usually made with saturated pork fat, but these did not include the heavy grease, while at the same time, they didn't compromise taste. My favorite were the chorizo and the barbacoa. Despite being quite filling, they are reasonably priced. I think we didn't spend more than $15 for the both of us. If you're looking for some uniqueness, I highly...

Gorditas Dońa Tota are the best , we always havw to order these when we are in San Antonio or McAllen i just wished they would have one here in Houston. I would truly recommend the chicharron crujiente my favorita and the mole con queso fresco my husband would die for these. Te service at this location was great i purchased about 50-60 gorditas and the ladies made sure to make my order in a timely fashion since i had to drive about 20-39 minutes from my family's house. They also gave me the green sauce which we love. My family member and told a friend i had taken the gordita and her friend could not resist the temptation she had to go out and get some too. We will continue go to these places each time we...

Good gorditas! They are deceptively small from pictures, so I've attached photos. One gordita is approximately the size of an adult male's palm. But they are flavorful and juicy, without need for added sauce or toppings. Served in what appears and tastes to be delicious, corn gordita bread. I got the Chicken and the Pear gordita and both were excellent and fairly priced. The atmosphere of the cafe left a bit to be desired, as there was a repeating alarm that the clerk kept silencing every time it went off, but was rather loud and annoying while alarming. Besides that, it was clean, tidy, and the server was courteous. Do check it out!

Service was great however, the food was ok. I wanted to try out the chorizo y papa but they had already ran out. Other complaints I have were that not all the arepas had the wax paper to separate them, too juicy, and taste. The arepas I ordered had a very juicy filling and had soaking through some of them. Some of the arepas had even fallen apart because of the juices and the filling was falling out. Lastly, taste was okay. Overall, it was a mediocre meal, not bad. I had high hopes because the restaurant came recommended, and I don't know of other restaurants that offer arepas.

Place was nice and clean. My husband wanted chorizo with potatoes and got told they were out by the lady in the front, but then a different staff member (maybe manager) said they can make one more. So that was definitely sweet and well appreciated. We loved the big Vírgencita picture they have displayed at the entrance. Food was great but we weren't really fans of the dried chicharon (maybe next time we'll get the chicharron with salsa).
