This is a rating and review for the past few years I've been seen at South Texas Spinal Clinic. As always, the entire staff did an outstanding job in getting me into see Dr Simmons even though an earlier appointment had made me late. From the time you walk in the door until the time you walk out everyone there makes you feel special, like the quality of your healthcare matters. Whether it's dealing with any member of the clinic on the phone or face to face they've always treated me with dignity and respect. Dr Simmons' nurse Brenda always ensures I get seen when the need arises. I have total trust in Dr Simmons and the treatment plans he recommends. Without his surgical intervention in 2017, I would still be in terrible pain 24/7 and would more than likely not be able to walk. I came to Dr Simmons after the military had treated me for a spinal injury requiring surgery. After the 1st surgery in 1999 I was left with MRSA then Vertebral Osteomyelitis requiring an additional 9 more surgeries within 7 months, and then things got worse from there. No other doctor would even stick a needle into my spine just to collect a biopsy after the 10th surgery. I was forced to retire from the Air Force after almost 26 years as a 100% Disabled Veteran. He worked with me for several months prior to the surgery explaining the risks and realistic expectations. I'm confident I chose the right surgeon for all the right reasons. If given the chance to do everything over again I would not change a thing. I knew I had found the right surgeon and clinic I could trust to attempt this risky surgery. My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the care and support you've provided in the past and continue to provide...
Read moreDr. Simmons is a provider that is very professional, caring, compassionate, and willing to listen/comprehend a patient’s medical problems. During his assessment, Dr. Simmons not only identified the primary cause of my medical problems, he noticed the little things affecting my health, then swiftly determined a plan of action (med treatment) to resolve my medical issues (many years of pain) and improve my quality of life. Dr. Simmons office staff is also very caring/considerate/compassionate/willing to listen and help a patient get to the healthcare services/support needed so a patient’s concerns/medical issues are attended/resolved. Without haste, the office staff collected/prepaed/arranged the necessary med records/resources for Dr. Simmons’s review, and ensured appropriate care/services by maintaining an organized method of managing patient.medical records and communications with Dr. Simmons, other healthcare providers, and myself, so all remained fully aware, supported, and received transparent services at each step of care. It has taken many years of repetitive medical assessments by multiple providers (that could not determine a helpful solution/medical treatment plan for my med problems) to finally get referred to a medical provider who is knowledgeable, and cares enough, to take on the task/challenge of identifying my med problem and determine the medical treatment to improve my overall health. Thank you Dr. Simmons/staff for caring enough to identify/resolve my med problems (that stumped other med providers for many years). I am forever grateful for your willingness to help me get back to better health, and end many years of pain...

I have Spinal Stenosis in my Lumbar and Cervical/Thorasic .- Spondylitis. My Lumbar area was in bad shape or so we thought. We were proceeding with the Lumbar Fusion.
I ended up going to the ER in March, with weakness in my legs, a tightening around my ribs. My thought was I don't want to be paralyzed, it was scary, my body is numb from my chest down to my feet ER requested a full body MRI. At which point the scan showed that there was severe Spinal Compression. My left arm was tingling all the way to my fingers. Change of plans, My Cervical and Thorasic area needed to be addressed first. My Surgery was scheduled within,2 weeks. Successful,. My arm and shoulder no longer are numb and don't have shooting pains. Mary is one of his assistant, she is very helpful and knowledgeable in what needs to be done prior to surgery.
Great team. ...
