Pho is average, not impressive with a small amount of meat, that was rubbery, for a large bowl at $11.99. 4 excellent small pork and taro egg rolls about 3, maybe 4, inches long for $6.99. Mediocre rice plate with grilled pork and 2 egg rolls for $14.99 🤔 the rice was dry. The meat portion was enough to cover the rice, which isn't much for that price. The vegetables are minimal, nothing to justify the price in an average Vietnamese fast food restaurant. The boba drinks are made with powder and fruit, so for $6.00 a drink it is worth it. The kids enjoyed the bird's nest dish but it was $15.99. It was too saucey for the amount of noodles; meat was minimal. However, there was a decent variety of vegetables in this dish. The 6-7 inch banh mi/sandwiches are $6.99 each. My spouse thinks they were authentic enough and the pricing is average in San Antonio.

We won't be returning to this restaurant. Our hunt for an authentic pho restaurant continues. If you're looking for a cheap eat for an adult meal under $10 or authentic pho or rice plate, this isn't the place. FYI: The minimum credit card charge is $15. This was the most expensive Vietnamese meal in a casual setting that we've ever eaten at. We usually spend $40-60 before tip for the 4 of us, but our total came out to be $80+ for our usual drinks, appetizers, and entrees. The service was your typical authentic Vietnamese restaurant experience, not worth the premium prices.

Disclosure: I was raised in the Vietnamese culture with a vast experience eating numerous authentic dishes in numerous locations from homes to churches, NYC to LA, and USA to Vietnam. I do my best not to be biased. This review is straightforward...telling folks the things we would like to know...

BEWARE!! reviews on here are extremely deceiving!! Let me start by saying two families walked out within the first five minutes of us arriving. That should have been a cue for us to leave as well but we decided to stick it out. My family sat down and waited almost 15 minutes to finally be greeted. Server was not very friendly and very unnatentive the entire time. We were given water to drink and were never offered re-fills. The atmosphere was very dry and gloomy. The weather was in the 30's and there was absolutely no heating inside. We all literally kept our coats and beanies on to stay warm. We ordered spring rolls as an appetizer and got them after we were served our main entree... it didn't really make a difference because they were not tasty at all. I ordered a large bowl of Pho and my wife ordered the small. The large bowl looked much larger than the small but literally had just about the same portion inside. Very pricey food for the quality, service, and atmosphere. I rarely write negative reviews, but I felt compelled to since the majority of reviews on here are surprisingly positive and misleading. I caution all to reconsider eating here until they make drastic improvements. I would give this restaurant 1/2 a star if it...

We recently dined at Pho Nguyen and spent about $130 for four people. While the staff was kind and polite, our overall experience was very disappointing.

A child around 11 years old, was helping serve our table. He brought drinks, utensils, but forgot things like straws, ice, and extra cups. While it wasn’t the biggest issue, it felt unusual and a little uncomfortable that these tasks weren’t handled by the actual server.

Once our server took over (an adult), it honestly felt like we were forgotten. After finishing our appetizers, the used dishes sat on the table—even when the entrees arrived. The server kept bringing out our meals but avoided clearing the dirty plates, almost like she didn’t want to touch them. We ended up pushing them to the edge of the table just to have space to eat.

The food also didn’t come out together. All the pho bowls arrived at once, but the fried rice came out about 15 minutes later, leaving one person waiting while everyone else was already eating. During the entire meal, no one checked on us to see if we needed refills or anything else.

The staff was friendly, but the service overall was terrible. For the price we paid, we expected a much smoother and more attentive...

My wife and I came to San Antonio for 2 weeks for work training. We have been to a few Vietnamese restaurants, but most were not authentic. We found that the foods here are very authentic, and they taste excellent to us, Vietnamese husband and Thai wife. We came here 4 times so far, and we found that the foods are consistent in taste. We had Pho (both chicken and beef), Vermicelli with grilled meats and spring roll, and I particularly enjoyed their Bún Bò Huế (had it twice). For non-Vietnamese, please be warned that their Bún Bò Huế has shrimp paste in it, which is authentic, but smells strong, yet very tasty to a Vietnameses. Good job guys. Keep it up! Cheers,

In my journey to have Bún Thịt Nướng (pork vermicelli) every time I’m in “the city”, today I stopped at Pho Nguyen. Although the pork was sliced thin and had yummy caramelized crispy edges, just how I like, the rest of the dish was wanting. The veggies were sparse (lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, bean sprouts), and there were no peanuts or cilantro garnishes. I was hungry, so I dove right in, but you can tell from my photos what I’m talking about. However, the pork is so good, I’ll likely be back. I just hope they up the veggies and presentation.

My first visit to Pho Nguyen and I was not disappointed. It was quiet on an early Saturday afternoon. Beautifully painted and decorated and so calm. I was between clients and needed to grab something quick so I selected the Banh Mi Thit Nuong - Seasoned Pork with veggies. The veggies were so crisp and fresh. The baguette was wonderfully toasted and the seasoned butter is what made the sandwich so, so good. I’m looking forward back to returning when I have more time to relax and sample more traditional menu items.
