SHIKI SUSHI TEPPAN BBQ & SPORTS BAR — Restaurant in San Bernardino

Our most recent visit was on Saturday around 5:30pm for teppan. We were sitted with 10 minutes. We ordered a caterpillar roll, fillet mignon with shrimp and chicken fried rice. The server brought soup and salad quickly which was great since both of us were starving! The sushi didn’t come until 30 minutes later and tasted nothing like a caterpillar roll - it was filled with cucumbers and nothing else. By now we were so hungry, it didn’t matter much to us. Finally the chef came to our section to cook. It was very boring, all he did was cooking, no tricks, no jokes, nothing. The fried rice was very salty yet again we had no choice because by now we have been there for almost an hour and half because there are only 2 chefs working at the time. The steak and shrimps were decent. We asked for the manager to discuss the whole experience from the wait time to the salty chicken fried rice. All she said to us was the chef is new and she will talk to him, no apologies, no compensation, just a quick response and left. The bill came out to be $150 for just the two of us without any drinks, just the 2 teppan meals and a roll of sushi. I understand everything went up in prices and honestly don’t mind paying a premium price for good food and service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!! I trusted the google reviews, I should’ve check yelp first. So many bad reviews! It was the first time trying this place out, as soon as we walked in we asked to be seated at the grills. Being that is was very slow I didn’t think it would be an issue but it was according to the very RUDE manager. He said we could not sit there because our party of 3 wasn’t large enough, even though we clearly saw parties of 2 sitting alone. The food was horrible, My white rice was harder then a rock,veggies were hard ( even after being cooked) meat was stale, NO FLAVOR whats so ever. Worse sushi I have ever had,After 2 pieces it left such a bad taste in my mouth & they took over 40 minutes to bring out a teriyaki bowl for my child. OH BUT THEY BROUGHT OUR CHECK OUT IN 2 mins (they didn’t forget about that) Although our waitress was nice and tried to be accommodating it was not worth $ 98.00! the people sitting behind us left upset too, I heard the lady tell her husband “ This place is a joke”.We left so disgusted and upset. Here on vacation from Massachusetts did find the menu a little pricey for some things(def the hibachi ) but that does come with a show. Great atmosphere we had 8 people in our group with 2 kids 4 and 10. Our chef put on an excellent show he had a great sense of humor and was entertaining and included everyone in our party and the food was delicious. FYI he did over cooked 2 steaks ordered medium rare. They do it in front of you on the grill so if you’re really picky with your steak remind him. He did offer to cook another one but we declined. Had drinks at bar first which you pay for at bar. Be sure to check your bill the drinks we paid for at the bar they added onto our dinner bill again which came separate after the meal. Also we were charged $2.50 extra on several meals even after adding on the additional price for the shrimp in our rice. So in total our over charge was almost $20.00 so just keep an eye on your bill and allergies see my comment on dietary restrictions below.
