I had called the Bahia hotel about 3 months ago to book specific rooms during my 2 night stay. I called twice to confirm that my request was possible before booking. Once Noel, who I spoke with when I confirmed and booked my reservation with, took my info, firstly I asked him if I was being charged now for the rooms and he said yes. I took his word (stupidly) and let Noel book me for 2 rooms for 2 nights and 1 room for 1 night. requesting to be in the 400 rooms building preferably with our patio facing the bay/public parking lot of the bay.

Fast forward to our check in, the 20 something year old blonde girl, checked me in, showing me that my room was not even near the rooms I had requested. I told her that I had called 3 months prior about my request and she had told me that there was “nothing she could do”. I did not & was not going to budge on her telling me she couldn’t do anything. We had 3 rooms reserved all in total above $3,000, it was unacceptable. To top it off, the girl checking us in had nerve to give me attitude about everything and never once apologized about their mistake. Within 20 minutes, miss girl finally found something for us although still not in the block I had originally requested. Only once did someone apologize and explain to me the mistake on their end, unfortunately I did not get his name, a young man. He was the only reasonable and respectful worker there.

The next day I had to check in for my 3rd room, which was under my name. I went to go check in my sister into her room, and Hector who was checking us in also was not the friendliest or easiest person to work with. Both rooms prior were checked in with the same credit card that had my husband’s name on it, with no one asking me for any type of ID or anything. Once it’s time to pay the room, I go to use my husband’s card Hector tells me I can’t use the card. I told him I have my husband’s ID on me if that’s fine, we literally have the same last name and I was just in this lobby yesterday checking in. And I know they knew who I was because I was just upset with them the night previous, and I know they saw me around the property. I had explained that my husband was not able to come to the lobby; as he was busy attending to our family. Hector kept giving me a hard time, I asked if I could just call my husband and he could confirm it was fine over the phone and Hector said it was not allowed. Are you absolutely joking? It wasn’t until the same young man from the night before that Hector said “oh let me confirm with him that you were here last night?” ARE YOU KIDDING ME. By the time all this waiting happened my husband had just walked all the way to the lobby to just confirm in person because this ordeal took us about 30 minutes.

What makes me so upset about all this is that I have worked at this hotel multiple times as a wedding vendor & have recommended this hotel to my brides in past; going forward I won’t be recommending the Bahia hotel to anyone. The customer service at the Bahia was absolutely...

We had our wedding reception at the Bahia. Laura was great to work with. She is very fast at communicating and removed so much stress by her speedy responses to our many questions. She organized our tasting and touring of the venue with my family as my groom and I live out of town. On the day of our wedding, Laura visited us periodically along with the DJ to make sure we had everything we needed. The Bahia has a list of recommended vendors which are vetted and were all great to work with and at the top of their service industry. The people you have to work with are the best, essentially. Having never been married before, at the beginning of the planning process I found this a little strange, but as the planning continued and on the day of especially, I was really appreciative that everything was so smooth. The resort was beautiful for our stay and had so many amenities we didn’t even get to take advantage of because of our schedule, like sailing lessons, yoga classes, a beautiful looking pool and hot tub. I’m glad we at least got to enjoy our suite’s patio by the private beach. I would want to come back and enjoy these on our anniversary or another time we are in town. They had sewing kits at the front desk, which was perfect because the button popped off my groom’s tuxedo, so he was able to sew it back on. The reception at the Shell Ventana ballroom had a lovely view of the bay. The tray pass hors d’oeuvres, the tropical vegan salad, and chicken and vegan entrees tasted great. The staff was dressed professionally in formal wait staff attire; everyone was courteous and perfectly active in the background. There was a bit of time between the salad and the entree, but still followed our outlined timeline. The staff made sure our drinks stayed full the entire time and our empty plates were immediately removed. The staff is very professional and nice, greeting and congratulating us, making us feel comfortable during a stressful time. For our wedding, they gave us a room for two nights and provided celebratory drinks and boards of fruit and cheese, which were lovely. The one weird thing is the guest service housekeeping person gave a quick knock and then unlocked our door while we were changing after our wedding just past 6 pm, and the first room is the bedroom and not a living area so the door goes straight to the bed. I had to hide nude behind a wall while my groom blocked the door in his underwear. It wasn’t a huge deal but it was a surprise; although we did not put the Do not Disturb sign on the door, so it was our own fault. Checking in and checking out were easy at the desk. There’s security present at all times including late at night, and only guests can enter the property with parking tags. The private beach area requires wrist bands so the public can’t just stroll in. Our reception went really well, the climate control was great, lighting was great, staff and planning and logistics were great and went smoothly. The view was beautiful. They are really good at doing...

Sharing my honest, realistic, and thorough review of this hotel. My family stayed here in late June 2023 in a Bay View suite. This is a long but worth it review that I wish I had before going.

Overall, we enjoyed our time at this hotel. It’s a bit overpriced in my opinion but I think you’re paying for location, access to private beach, and a few on site amenities. This place definitely could use some renovations and I’m rooting that it will make some necessary upgrades in the future. The bay view suite does not face the hotel’s private beach and faces the public beach and there is a parking lot between the view. Not a big deal to us but this was a little unclear on the hotel reservation site so hopefully this helps someone.

Pro - Comfortable beds. Nice pool. Room was overall clean (although we did find a few remnants from previous guest like a wrapper, hair tie, and hair in the bath which was very unappealing). View was great. Good room size for a family. Floor balcony size (large table and 4 seats) Beautiful property and private beach is wonderful. Love the cabanas. They acknowledged my request and provided my family the ground level room. My kids being able to run around and step outside was very helpful for the multi night stay. Friendly staff and everyone always seemed to be busy working hard. Nice little playground on site.

Needs improvement or cons - Carpeting (dirty/stained) unnecessary for a beach resort. Musty Smell in room. I would highly recommend you bring a diffuser or something to mask the smell (which we did). Poor Water pressure. Sofa bed not great. We brought an air mattress based off suggestions from a review. Need a garbage disposal for the kitchenette. The kitchenette doesn’t have a dish washer. We ended up buying some disposable plates and cutlery bc who wants to wash dishes while on vacation. They need a water bottle filling station for guest especially since the only option is water bottles that they provide two to you daily. I asked an employee if they had a water bottle filling station and they said no but the restaurant may be able to help. The bedroom in the suite does not have an AC. AC unit is in the main living room space. It was mild weather during our stay so the in room fan cooled us down. The pool towel dispenser seemed weird to me. You supposedly scan your room key to get it but there’s nothing to scan when you return. This seems like a great way to get charged for “not...
