It was my first time there.
I was the only one there on a weekday at 1:30pm. They close at 3, so that didn't bother me.
I asked him what he recommended and he pointed above his head and said the flavors are all there. I walked in in a good mood, excited because I was craving a bagel. Now at this point, I'm just like whatever. So I look up and realize I'm reading a menu for sandwiches. I asked him for an iced coffee while I looked at the menu then. He made it, then went back to whatever he was doing with his back turned to me the entire time. No where up there I'm seeing bagel flavors so now I'm confused & frustrated, but not trying to look so lost in the empty place. I kept looking in his direction to see if he'd make eye contact or ask if I need help but nothing. Then I realize all the bagel choices are behind the counter in front of me. Not up on the menu like he pointed. He made me so uncomfortable being there I didn't even bother to look around and see the bagels in my face. I feel like he hated his job and did not want to be there. One of those, 'ugh another customer' feelings.
This is the most nervous I've ever been trying to order a simple bagel with cream cheese.
There was a featured bagel called Bellapeno and I asked what it was. He hesitated before saying bell peppers and jalapeños as if it was ridiculous I've never heard of the word 'bellapeno'. Okay, kid.
I didn't even want to ask anymore questions. I took it. Then I asked if I can have it with cream cheese. He said "they're all up there" and pointed above his head again. Oh no, no. Not again. Now I'm anxious. I look up. Ok, it's cool. First thing I see is garlic something and I just take it. (I'm not a bagel connoisseur. I didn't know there were 50 kinds of cream cheese.) I couldn't even tell you the other flavors because I was so in a hurry to get out of there before he did something else to show his hate of service.
They get 2 stars for the coffee and variety of bagel choices. But the consistency of the bagel was weird, I can't really describe it, but chewing it was different. Cream cheese was okay. But because of the experience, I would not return. I'll stick with Albertsons bakery. But at least now I'll explore different types of...
Read moreThe bagel was good but the Customer Service Veronica gave was horrible. She was very rude and argumentative just because I asked for less ice in my coffee and less syrup then became upset because I asked her to remake it since she did not listen and made it how she wanted anyways. She continued to argue as she walked around the counter to the ice machine which she made out to be a huge inconvenience for her to take an extra 12 steps and commenced trying to scold me because “that’s not how they make them, it comes with 3/4 of ice because it’s concentrated “. Two other customers inside were displeased with her attitude as well and said if they knew they were going to get this type of service they’d rather go to McDonalds across the street. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this location in the Downtown San Diego...
