It was okay. The food was pretty good, but the service was pretty bad. Although everyone was nice enough, they just didn't do their jobs well, you know? I walked in around 1:30 on Sunday, and no one acknowledged me. There's a sign saying please wait to be seated and a few people working behind the counter. After looking around, I spot a group of 3, so I ask the guy closest to me, "are you waiting to check in for a table?" The guy just shrugged at me... it wasn't a hard question, my dude. Luckily one of the ladies with him noticed me talking and said they were waiting for a table. She then caught the attention of someone working behind the counter and she helped them out. Then the same woman came back and seated my party. She was nice enough when she eventually helped me, but she saw me walk in... why did it take like 5 min to be acknowledged?
Then we waited for a long time for a server to come help us. The server was also super nice, but not very good at his job. He took our order and then failed to bring our drinks. I was about to get up to ask for our drinks when he came by and dropped them off right as another woman brought our food. Oh, and our drink order was 1 Pepsi and 2 waters. Not exactly complex cocktails. My order was slightly incorrect. I asked for hashbrowns and got home potatoes (I can't eat peppers) and the woman who was not my server took care of it right away. No big deal. But they forgot my friend's toast, which she was waiting for to eat her omelet. She reminded the lady who brought our food and she said it was coming right up. About 5 min later my friend goes up to the counter where our server (who never checked on us) was and asked about it. He then tried to give her burnt toast, and she had to ask for non-burnt toast. Once she got her toast, she came back to the table to dig into her (now mostly cold) omelet, and... it's been made wrong. She specifically asked for no onions and there were onions cooked into the egg. Frustrated, she didn't want to have them remake it (because who knows what will go wrong next!), so she just made due and picked them out the best she could. It was a pretty frustrating dining experience. I'm honestly not sure if we'd go back. There are so many other restaurants that actually take care of their customers... it doesn't really make...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place and I will go back to see if improves. This is somewhat newer brunch lunch shop with indoor and outdoor seating in what used to be provisions right off the 15. (Near one of my fav sushi places, RB). Menu: 9/10 for sandwiches and breakfast. Long list of traditional and unexpected items. Food: good but could be enhanced given the prices are not inexpensive. Portions of meat a little light vs bread. Pastrami was very tasty with lean and smoky flavor not often found outside NY deli. Put more on. Coffee: 8/10 several varieties in self serve - dark, medium, medium w flavor/nut, etc. And several types cream, non-dairy creamer should make us all happy. And you can get up as often as you'd like to refill. Patio is great and dog friendly. Good lunch vibe. Service: 3/10 but this does vary as I saw one server working far harder than the others and doing the right things. Other servers or runners see standing around while tables needed cleaning etc. Q big miss is seeing staff sitting down to eat a meal in middle of the restaurant (nothing against feeding staff) WHILE serving our table. They got up from eating (finally) and checked in on us (drinks empty) and then later brought food, yes while eating their meal. This is not proper, not sanitary, and not good service. Second when asked the food runner, yes different than the waiter, for mustard, butter, she never came back and shortly later standing iut front gabbing with other server, not at all busy. Just low service standards.. good management can change this.. maybe bad day. But feed staff before or after shift if clear break, not while caring for customers.!! Gross. Given prices, 15-20 each item before drinks, this value is not there yet, but hope things improve as the menu has great potential and need better breakfast and lunch options...
Read moreMy recent visit to Hoorah Breakfast Cafe and Bar was a nice breakfast experience. The cafe has a spacious, open-concept layout both indoors and outdoors, which was a refreshing change from the smaller diners I seem to have been eating at lately. Conveniently located just off the freeway, parking was hassle-free with an abundance of spots available right in front or just a row away.
We arrived at around 9:30 on a Saturday morning, I expected a crowd, but to surprisingly, we were seated right away without any wait. The staff was exceedingly friendly and attentive, with our waitress Veronica providing excellent service from start to finish. Our orders were taken swiftly and accurately, and our food arrived promptly within about 10 minutes of placing our order.
Speaking of the food, it certainly didn't disappoint. We ordered the Chilaquiles Verde and the Veggie Omelet, customized to exclude broccoli and add extra cheese, paired with the unlimited coffee bar option. The Chilaquiles Verde stood out with its tangy and flavorful Verde sauce, which truly elevated the dish. While the rice was enjoyable, the abundance of black beans was a bit overwhelming for my taste. However, the Veggie Omelet was a hit, packed with a variety of well-cooked vegetables that were finely chopped, ensuring even cooking throughout. The generous addition of half an avocado on top was a delightful surprise. My only suggestion would be to cut the potatoes into smaller, crisper pieces to complement their superb seasoning even better.
Overall, our breakfast experience at Hoorah Breakfast Cafe and Bar was a satisfying one. With the attentive service and delicious food, this might become a regular spot for us. Of course, further "research" into their menu offerings is definitely on the agenda—purely for the sake of culinary...
