I have been a frequent customer at Nishiki Ramen since I moved to San Diego. I actually go either multiple times a week or even every other week. We have been big HUGE fans of the Akuma and their kids meals, and it's why we go. However, this will change after today. I came to this location, per usual, and this time, I added a vegan curry ramen. I brought everything to my house (35 minutes away) and when we were all opening up our food, my mom, who is Vegan and always gets this ramen, tasted it, and complained about it not tasting like curry. We all thought she was crazy, but to satisfy her, I called. To my surprise, a male employee answered and began saying that it was the vegan curry ramen, that he remembered this order. I explained that my mom said it had no curry flavor. I gave Nishiki the benefit of the doubt and I hung up. I then went back to my chair and tried her ramen. It was literally just a broth. There was absolutely no curry in the broth. 7 of us tried it and there was NO curry. I called and the same male employee said that I could go back (35 minutes there and another 35 back) and get a new one. I then asked if I could just get a partial refund just for that order and he said "I don't think so". He emphasized that because it was not their mistake, they couldn't do anything about it. I was so angry I was going to drive there, but going back for one bowl of ramen just isn't worth it and neither is going to eat there again. Time and time I have taken visiting family members (paid astronomical bills), and continued to go back because of their AMAZING service and delicious food. Refer to the photo. I wish I could take it there and have them taste it, but unfortunately, it's not worth the mileage, my time, or energy. Peace out Nishiki. -100000/10...
Read moreNishiki Ramen (Mira Mesa) need to change or else this ramen place will be gone in no time! SAD.
I came in on a weekday 1230p, when I walked in, there is ZERO other customers. Pho cow cali (vietnamese noodles) that is just across the street is packed with a line out the door (probably 15+parties waiting outside).
The ramens are not bad, they are actually pretty good.
But a few reasons that will eventually led to their doom -
(1) its overpriced! I ordered 1 bowl of ramen, and drank water..... i paid $26..... the value is just NOT there
(2) automatic 18% service charge NEED TO GO, even tho they came and ask you if you want to change it, most people will not feel comfortable changing it, yet they will leave feeling mad
(3) 1 teaspoonful of "hot sauce" cost additional $3.5!? Again overpriced, bad value, bad experience
(4) i ordered "thick" noodle, the waiter do not know that is an option, didnt bother to go find out, until after they delivered the ramen...... in any other japanese restaurant (or above average restaurant, which this one is "priced at"), they would have correct it by replacing the whole bowl or ramen, but all they did, is to offer me more noodle; which ruin the whole experience, pulling the wrong noodles out of my original bowl, not enough soup left for the new noodle.... its just a mess...... and remember the 18% service charge??
(5) the egg..... which is the staple of japanese ramen.... was overcooked.... i am speechless
Anyways, it had been almost 2 weeks, and I am still mad about the experience, Nishiki, please CHANGE, for your own good...... I liked you (from your Convoy store), hate to see you gone (from MM), but please do the...

We visited Nishiki Ramen in Mira Mesa and ordered the Spicy Vegan Ramen, which includes tofu, corn, and green onions. We politely asked the server, Kevin, to skip the green onions and instead add a little extra corn, and he agreed without mentioning any additional charge.
To our surprise, the bill included an extra charge for corn as a separate topping. This was never communicated upfront. When we brought it up, we were told that’s just how it is — no apology, no accountability.
But the worst part? The restaurant tacks on a mandatory 15% “service charge”, which they claim is for the “customer’s convenience.” Convenient for them, maybe — especially since the service was anything but worth tipping. We told the manager that we would rather remove the unapproved extra topping charge or not pay the automatic tip since we were clearly unhappy. He flatly refused and insisted the 15% was mandatory, even though their own sign says you can ask to adjust the percentage.
Instead of listening or trying to resolve the issue professionally, the manager seemed more invested in proving himself right than actually caring about customer experience. He responded with sarcastic comments and ended the conversation with a snide remark: “Sorry the extra charge was too much for you.” Absolutely uncalled for.
This place is clearly more focused on nickel-and-diming customers than providing decent service. The fact that they rely on forced tipping says it all — they probably know they wouldn’t earn a genuine tip otherwise. If you value fair treatment and transparent billing, I strongly advise avoiding Nishiki...
