I visit this place several times a week and too many times I've had an uncomfortable experience with the staff. There is a blonde girl that is super sweet and she's always so friendly so this is not about her. The other staffers that work at the front make ordering at this place unpleasant. Twice I've ordered online and the order was canceled after 20 minutes of waiting. One of those times I went up to the window to ask if they would place my order in next rather than wait in line, since technically I had placed my order in 20 minutes prior. The girl I spoke to told me I would have to wait in line and they weren't going to make my sandwich any faster. She was curt and really didn't seem to care about the mistake. She's taken my order several times and she's always like this. Today, I heard someoen yelling at their coworkers, I'm pretty sure it was her. I have yet to have a pleasant experience with her. The 2nd time my online order was canceled I asked if they had issues with online ordering and I was told that online ordering only works 50% of the time. If thats true, they should probably get that fixed. Today they gave me the wrong order (it's ok, that happens) but when I took it back all the guy said was, "ok," took the sandwich back and gave me the correct one. No apology or anything. I had to take time away from work to walk back down to the cafe to get the mistake fixed. I have other experiences but I think this review is long enough.
The breakfast food and coffee drinks are always delicious. And the location is close to where I work so its convenient. Prices are actually really good for the location and the...

The entire place has been packed so you're going to be queuing up for a short while to get into any of the sit down spots. If you're looking for a quick sweet tooth or caffeine fix, Portside Coffee is an easy grab and go without the long lines at Ketch and all the other Brigantine chain joints here.
They've got some interesting flavors of gelato and being apple pie fans, we opted for their apple pie infused ice cream. Though it wasn't as creamy as we'd like it to be (they may have froze it for too long as it was more sorbet-ish), it hit the spot on a sunny day.
They've got the normal fare of coffee joint options such as cappuccinos and normal drip coffee. Nothing to rant and rave about but if you're looking for a quick caffeine fix and are strolling down Harbor Dr, it's a quick and easy fix without having to trek into Little Italy (though coffee is much...
Read moreI was really excited to visit Portside Coffee and Gelato for a birthday brunch, drawn in by the beautiful views and past reviews. While the atmosphere lived up to its praise providing a peaceful, slightly cloudy morning and a lovely water view. The rest of the experience didn’t quite match.
I ordered a muffin and found it disappointingly dry. The cashier wasn’t very welcoming either, which put a damper on the mood, especially for a birthday visit. I also ordered fish and chips from the Dockside menu. While I’m a picky eater and it wasn’t exactly my thing, I can say the fish was served hot with a crunchy batter.
What really saved the experience was the bartender at Dockside. He was genuinely kind and offered a warm demeanor that stood out among otherwise lackluster service.
All in all, the atmosphere and view are great reasons to visit, but the food and service felt...
