I've been going to the Roberto's in San Diego my whole life, so I'm VERY familiar with their food. This particular location opened not too long ago. I usually go to the one in Ocean Beach which has been there over 40 years, & to this day STILL consistently good! The Point Loma location on the other hand started off very good when they first opened, However, that didn't last. 🙈 I have been there several times trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but yesterday WAS/WILL BE the last! I ordered a shrimp burrito and asked for no cheese otherwise they just fill it with everything else but the shrimp, it had a TON of those canned tasting beans, DEFINITELY NOT fresh like other places, I could count with 1 hand how many tiny shrimp were in it, and the flavor was nothing great. I also got a Chile Verde burrito that had nothing to do with Chile Verde ..🙂↔️ It was first of all 70% of those horrible refried beans, a few pieces of carnitas style pork & the green sauce was hard to find, plus super oily. You could tell the pork n sauce were not cooked together, which is what Chile Verde is all about! No spice whatsoever 😤 I ordered a fish taco plain only cheese & a bean tostada plain only with cheese for my 6 year old, and the taco was COVERED with that yellow ugly cheap cheese (instead of the crumby white one), and the tostada had a melted huge layer of cheese w/those terrible beans, and a tortilla that had been fried dripping oil not a tostada at all... I was so disappointed, because the time before that they did the same thing with my Mixed burrito, there was a ton of onions, green peppers and those nasty beans but hardly any shredded meat which is what a Mixed burrito is all about! Not only have they raised their prices but they're not giving a reasonable amount of the actual food, other than fillers, and I understand inflation living here in SD but what they are giving the customers DOES NOT reflect what they are charging. Will not go there again AND BTW, I know A LOT of people in the area, and have heard the same complaints. I will say this though.... The service is...
Read moreThis place was packed, but the service was still friendly and FAST! I was with a party of 6, and all of us had our food just a short while after ordering. One of us who normally doesn't order fish at Mexican due to grease/oil did anyway and said it wasn't greasy at all but was perfect. I had the carne asada quesadilla, and it was greasy, but the carne was soft and juicy and was delicious--would definitely order again. I tried all 4 sauces and especially enjoyed the Verde. Parking was a little rough at lunchtime but none of us had to park more than a block away. Prices are great and nearby. This might just be the new regular...
Read moreEverything I've had has been excellent and remarkably affordable. My favorite is the surf and turf burrito, I really want to try the birria. I'll do that next time. The salsa bar is a delight, I like the pico de Gallo and one of the red spices, which is kinda hot. It's several dollars cheaper, per entree, than chipotle and it's better... and not Chipotle. The staff is great and they have a beautiful fig tree out front. I take a picture of it every time I come out to San Diego. Go to Roberto's, it's good. My sister lives off of it when...
