Food tasted amazing and the portions were good sized (seemed a little expensive), but the service was beyond awful.

Went with a couple other families and we all received our order one...by...one. Half the table was done eating their food before the other half even got theirs. While I can understand if they wanted the food to stay fresh and hot (which it was!), it was terribly inconvenient.

The waitress also screwed up our order, which caused another child from another family to receive our 3 year old's meal. Where I'm from you get the kids' meals first because they are impatient and don't understand waiting like adults. Well...she was the last one to receive her meal out of 10 of us. The other 2 year olds who were present received their meals towards the end as well. When we found out why our daughter hadn't received her meal, we asked that they just serve her the meal that the other child was supposed to receive (since they were supposedly still working on it in the kitchen). When the check arrived (over $100 for 2 children, 2 adults), we were charged for both children's meals. Keep in mind, this waitress was waiting on us the whole time and we arrived in separate groups, so there was a clear separation of family there. When we asked her to take it off our check, she proceeded to ask the other family for their card again (after they had already paid and we're practically walking out the door) and charged their card for the children's meal we were supposed to receive. Now...we are on vacation here and maybe this is just how it is done in California, but where we are from that is not how it is done. You screw up the order, you handle it by comping the meal or something to compensate for the crappy service. I tried to give 3 stars but based upon the lack of good quality service, the delicious food just could not overcome my desire to rate as 2 stars. I will also add that when we started leaving, four different servers came over to clean up (including the supposed manager), but not one helped to distribute the meals. Additionally, the manager didn't even come over to talk to us/apologize when the waitress screwed up and asked us if the other family could pay for the meal. They were also completely empty on the side they seated us on, so it seems they were very slow. You could get bad service at the best place in town, but if you continue to employ staff like that people eventually start taking their business elsewhere. Good...

I was hungry and stopped at Umi Sushi for a bite to eat. Upon entering the parking i felt the space was a bit confined but still with enough space to maneuver and park 10 to 15 cars.

After being greeted and guided by a waiter I sat at the bar and was given a menu. I ordered the Spider and Vegas rolls. I requested that the chef add extra crunch to my Vegas roll and the was obliged.

Although the Vegas roll was priced at about 13 dollars which is a little on the higher side for San Diego. But when it came time to eat the difference was made up by the Sushi's rice. The rice used in both the Vegas and Spider rolls had the most delicate grains I've ever tasted while eating sushi. So much that the rolls had a little difficulty keeping together when I used chopsticks.

Along with the delicious rice used to craft the sushi was an added affect of crunch. The chef deep fried the fool and added ample crunchy flakes to give it the most soft yet crunchy finish.

There are two major aspects of a dining experience that I continuously look forward to when I dine out. They are customer service and food quality. Based on my recent experience at Umi Sushi and the quality sushi they prepare I plan to return. As it stands this location...
