Meet Dumpling? Meet tastebuds.
Given the scarcity of good, regional Chinese food in San Diego, the family-owned Meet Dumpling serves as a beacon calling all hungry diners to Point Loma that are in search for authentic Northern Chinese food.
The space is small, able to seat about 20 people, and has very simple decor. Dine in if you can as it is most fresh, though they also do plenty of take-out. Conveniently, you can also buy frozen dumplings to cook at home! Adding to its charm, there is a small window to the kitchen where you can observe the staff wrapping your dumplings to order.
Speaking of, the dumplings are delicious and surprisingly juicy, evidence of the freshness in their ingredients. They offer a variety of fillings; we ordered each of the tofu and vegetable fillings which were wonderfully satiating. Our friends and family ordered the holy trinity (a Northern staple) of shrimp/pork/chives as well as zucchini/egg - both of which were exceptional. Another highlight is the scallion pancake, so incredibly flaky. The noodles are also robust in flavor and come in hearty portions. Lastly, the side dishes are vibrant and fresh, providing a pleasant contrast in flavor and texture to their main dishes - personally, I love the celery with peanuts and the beancurd.

Read moreI am thrilled to discover a new Chinese/Taiwanese dumpling restaurant in Point Loma today! The service was outstanding, with attentive staff who ensured a delightful customer experience. The food arrived promptly, exceeding my expectations in terms of speed. Each dish was a delight, and loved that there was a wide variety of dumplings and appetizers to choose from.
The green onion pancake had an incredibly crispy texture that was immensely satisfying. I also relished the green chive with shrimp and pork dumplings, which were served in generous quantities of 14 per flavor ordered. To enhance the flavors, I paired them with a custom dipping sauce I created using soy sauce, chili oil, and vinegar in the spice rack.
In addition to the dumplings, I also savored the refreshing cucumber and wood ear mushroom salad, which served as a perfect palate cleanser between bites.
It's worth noting that the restaurant has limited seating, with only about four tables available. In the event that all tables are occupied, I recommend opting for takeout to enjoy the delicious food from the comfort of your own home. We shared four dishes between three people, which was perfect. The parking lot in front of the restaurant is typically always packed during lunch, but there's a handful of street parking. I look forward to trying other items on the menu and...
Read moreGreat little mom and pop restaurant in a Point Loma strip mall. We went with high expectations and were blown away by the quality and quantity if the offerings as well as the service. This is a small shop with maybe 8 or 9 tables. There was a wait to be seated, but not too long and everyone in line was cordial. Everything on the menu looked interesting, however seeing the quantity of food being served we decided to limit ourselves to 3 appitizers and one entree each. The wonton soup by itself was enough to feed 3 people. The pig ear salad was very interesting and enjoyable, however the spice gave everyone numb tongue for 10 minutes. The green onion pancakes were extremely flavorful, albeit a bit oily for me. We also ordered the Scallop with Shrimp and Pork Dumplings, the Naoa Cabbage with Pork Dumplings and the Mushroom and Chicken Dumplings. Each consisting or 14 or 15 dumplings. We were only able to consume about half and had to take the other half to go. All the Dumplings were incredible but our favorite was the Scallop with Shrimp and Pork Dumplings. The meal was great and the experience memorable. 5 stars for the flavor, the quality, the preparation and the service. We will...
