From the Netflix docuseries, Taco Chronicles, and Michelin Star fame at the original location, Tacos El Franc finally arrives in downtown San Diego and are you in for a treat!

The location, perfect, right on Fifth Avenue in the heart of the Gaslamp. The staff, amazing, very friendly and have great recommendations. Everyone was very nice and thanked us for coming. It was like being at a friend or family members place.

The food, oh the food! Loved loved loved the asada tacos, so classic and so perfect. We had three and devoured them! The brisket tacos was a nice twist. Tried the vegetarian taco for fun, honestly it was very good! The asada quesadilla blew me away! I didn’t think I would like it as much as I did.

I can’t wait to go back and try everything! 100% make this your next stop. Easily the best...

Food is good service is horrible.

First they decide they are opening at 4:00pm during the week. After everyone who works here locally complaining they decide to open at 11:00am everyday

But today they where no open at 11:00 and told us to come back at 11:40am so when we went back at 11:40 they told us to come back at 1:00pm. seriously? we ended up going somewhere else what a waste of the day.

The food when you can get it is very good unlike 99% of the other taco shops that cook their meat on a Griddle these guys actually grill their meat over a mesquite open flame giving great flavor to the meat.

But the problem is they are not organized and I baffled since this is owned by the same people who own and operate the Broken yolk they are not prepared to operate this location in a proper and...

Best tacos in the US, full stop! I am amazed at how Tacos El Franc (both Downtown San Diego and Plaza Bonita) were able to replicate the flavor of their iconic Tijuana location! Competiton will have to step up or step aside, because the best Tijuana tacos are in town!

**Beware of people posting 2 or even 1 star reviews for things that don't merit that low of a score. It's as if they're getting sent by other taquerías to post bad reviews to lower the score of Tacos El Franc and it's disappointing that people are actually...

Favorite tacos in San Diego! Not only were the tacos amazing, Guillermo, the General Manager made it a point to greet every customer. Apparently they had just opened 3 days prior to us visiting and they are making sure the food and service are top tier. Also, pro tip: Order the Al Pastor with grilled pineapple on top! Al Pastor is my favorite and El Franc does not disappoint! 10/10 this will be our go to taco spot from now on. Thanks Guillermo and team for making it an unforgettable experience!
