The Art of Tim Cantor gallery in San Diego is such an enchanting place, and our visits last week proved to be the highlight of our entire trip. The art on display is spellbinding, and as I said during our visit (only half-jokingly), I would love to have been locked into the place for the night, just to have time to try and absorb the details and mood of each and every work on display. Two days later, we find ourselves thinking about acquiring one for our home. The problem is, we still can't decide which is our favorite!
We were grateful for the opportunity to briefly meet Tim himself during our first visit, and to express to him our admiration for his work. And Tim's charming wife, Amy -- what a wonderful hostess! Thank you so much, Amy, for your time visiting with us, discussing the different works on display and the stories behind them. As wonderful as the gallery itself is, your warm reception and welcoming company made the experience twice as enjoyable as it would have been otherwise. After our time together, Stephanie and I now feel like we have a friend for life, and we are already looking forward to our next opportunity to visit you (and the art, of course!), either in San Diego or (maybe someday!) in Amsterdam. Until we meet again. . .
Your friends, Cary and...
Read moreIt all started with a crystal ball hanging in the window.
A painting of a ball, so real so fake but immensely mesmerizing.
I stop there for what seemed like forever trying to make a sense of how this painting is possible and how it's not mixed media.
I wrote down his name and promised myself I'd return one day, as if this is a pilgrimage. The paintings are religion. It's duality of life - the darkness and the light. The opposite, the realism with the surreal. Expression of a man's soul and thoughts deep within come to life with a brush stroke. A story, a poem years in the making.
I've followed him from the day I saw my first work of his. Addicted to his website and just inspired by his writings and work.
15 years is what it took me to finally arrive. And as I stepped foot in the gallery a smile as wide as the world can see was brought to my face. Internally I was giddy.
And then I met Amy, his wife. And am I even more inspired; by her, her dedication, her love she has not just for Tim but his work.
15 years ago, I was a college student amazed by a painting. And today I'm a lucky man. I saw Tim's gallery. One day I hope to meet the man, until then - I'll meet him...
Read moreMy name is Irina and I am from New York. I met Amy and Tim Cantor's paintings around 7-8 years ago in San Diego. My boyfriend and I fell in love with both: paintings and the story of Amy and Tim. I bought a first edition of Tim's art book (think, I was a first buyer) as a gift to my boyfriend and we've been enjoying it all these years. Thank you, Amy, again ! I am checking Tim's web site regularly and I wish, Amy, you could arrange an exhibition in New York. Could you think about it? Thank you so much for unique art experience. With my best regards and good wishes for the...
