The Bay View Restaurant — Restaurant in San Diego

My husband and I married and held our reception here back in 2014. We had looked at 7 venue locations prior to seeing this one. The moment I saw this I was stunned. It’s was so beautiful and perfect. From the Bay lawn to the huge formal Spanish dinning room. My favorite was the massive Spanish ceiling and tile fire place. It’s a hidden gem. Not only was it the best location but the least expensive since it was on the base. The weather was perfect on our wedding day and ceremony was outside on the lawn facing the beautiful bay. The pre- reception was on outdoor the patio. And the reception was held inside. Everything went great. The only down side was the service. They ran out of food. This explains the four stars instead of five.

Normally, 10-20 % of guests that RSVP do not show up. However, I stayed on top of my guests count just a few days before the wedding. So all but 1 guest showed. Not something venues expect. So with that said, they didn’t order enough food. Some portions were much smaller then others on the plates. But regardless everyone had a great time and the venue was stunning. If anyone were to ask me if I would have another event there the answer would be yes. But I would definitely reiterate ordering enough food for the...

Bill, the manager, greeted us with such gentility and humor. He graciously greets almost everyone based on time. The food was healthy and fresh, not over cooked. The broccoli was Perfect. Desert was extra at the time, purchase at the bar. Iced tea was fresh and unlimited as well as coffee and water. Some alcohol available at the bar. The view is refreshing to your new marine. The environment allowed us to visit as a family. It was definitely quieter outside than inside. We arrived at 11 AM one day and around 2:00 p.m.the next. Both were serviceable and well supplied. The only other options were Domino’s Pizza and small carts by the MCX offering hotdogs and hamburgers. Our new marine was definitely hungry for the Bayview options. The salads were excellent both days. Most of our party went back for seconds. With the buffet this made it very cost-effective. Would highly recommend it. There was the option of walking of which we did, however it is quite a stretch. But it was still shorter than the shuttle. It just helps just to have more time together. While attending our grandson's graduation from Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, we got a little turned around on base looking for the Bay View Restaurant. As we studied the map on the side of a road a car stopped with a nice young man asking if we needed directions. We told him where we wanted to go and he told us to hop in his car and he'd take us there. Which he did. Right to the front door. Imagine our surprise when he showed up at our table later and told us he worked there. His name is Archie and he was SO nice! Then we met our server Jodi who was super friendly and as we chatted, we asked her how we could get back to our hotel without walking and she immediately offered the restaurant golf cart to make a special trip to get us back. How thoughtful! We had delicious food, excellent service, a special ride to the restaurant from Archie, then Jodie actually got us a shuttle that waited for us for 15 mins while we finished dining and took us back. Kudos to Archie and Jodi for going above and beyond their jobs to insure we were okay and got back safely. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Bay View Restaurant and the exceptional people...
