Absolutely incredible service and a beautiful property. I stayed in a "Sanctuary Suite" also listed as a partial ocean view suite. There is nothing really partial about it, I had a great view of the pacific sunset from my suite's balcony! The bed was firm, but I like it that way, and the ameneties in room top-notch- lotion x1 and two shampoos/conditioners/body washes (which are all from the "Bathe by eds" line).
Lighting was very ample in the room- I know some hotels like to keep it dark. The room has AC but it still felt a little warmer than what the thermostat was saying.
I took advantage of parking, which is right in the facility and incredibly accomodating. They even offered to charge my rental tesla so I don't have to charge it up myself before I drop it off at the airport.
I also made sure to use the jacuzzi tub, because why not! The water falls from a single spot in the ceiling, Getting the hot/cold mix was a little difficult at first, but other than that they have very clear instructions on a sign about how to use the tub. Shower is NOT a short-shower either, I'm 6'2" and that was a perfect height for me. The water pressure is also very great!
I apparently had also signed up for a promotion that gave me 2 free drinks at the bar downstairs, great service there as well. The hotel also is one of those that allows DoorDashers to drop off things at your room. The bar has stairwells to the great patio landing area, families all gathered to watch pacific sunset #2 as well there, with drinks in hand!
They were doing Christmas decorations and some touch up paint/lighting renovations on my floor in the hallways while I was here. All during the day, I thought it was amusing they were touching up the paint though because when I arrived the halls already looked great. The decorations are spectacular!
The area is beautiful and safe, a lot of dogs and families taking advantage of the Pacific Beach hours they can run around and play. You're right by the pier, a lot of food options, and a beautiful vibe.
There are four nitpicky things that leave me less enthused but should never dissuade someone from staying here. First, the lightbulb near the cough is a dimmable LED, but it can flicker due to the fixture if it's set halfway. You're often going to be all or nothing there. Second, the shower "Hot/Cold" line was hard to discern, at first it's cold, then it gets really hot, then you have trial and error to find the median point- it wasn't the same for me my two days here. Also, the bathroom door, even though the toliet itself is private, still has a bit of a crack when closed in the initial entry area that some may find offputting. I was solo, so it wasn't a problem. Finally, the in-room sink (for drinks, not for the bathroom) has it's own hot and cold lines mixed. Hot was cold, cold was Hot.
I was here for a conference, this past year I got tired of Honors and Bonvoyaging and started staying at independent hotels when I can, so glad I opted to stay by a real beach with such great energy than in a stuffy conference hotel trying to fake that aptmosphere. Bonus- the price was better here for this suite than in the drab one-roomer the conference venue offered! Now I just need to convince my wife to let me fly her cross country for a great time here as well...
Read moreMy stay at Tower 23 in beautiful San Diego, California was by far the best hotel experience I have ever had! When booking my trip, I wanted luxury, a great view, and amazing food. Tower 23 was able to accommodate all three of my desires for my family vacation. When we arrived at Tower 23, they immediately opened the parking garage and guided us where to park. Our parking spot was marked as reserved with our name on it. Talk about personal amazing service! Checking into the hotel was as if we were greeted like family coming home for the holidays. Very warm and very welcoming. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and advised us of all the amenity the hotel had for us. They have bicycles that can be used to cruse the town with, beach toys and towels we could use so we did not have to buy some while we were there, and their amazing restaurant, JRDN. I am sure I missed some things they advised us they had. It was more than we could do in the few days we were there. The room was stunning! My biggest issue when I go to a hotel is the beds. If the bed is not comfortable, I cannot sleep… what the point of getting a hotel (home away from home) if you cannot sleep comfortably? First thing I did was lay down on the bed I would be sleeping in. the bed cradled by body and I could have fallen asleep right then and there. I need to ask them what kind of mattress they use… I need it for my own! The room had a mini refrigerator filled with different drinks and candy that can be purchased if you choose to drink/eat it. The prices for all the items were very reasonable for my family. Then there was the view from our room looking right out into the ocean where we can sit on the balcony to enjoy the most incredible view of the sun setting each night. We ordered room service from their restaurant JRDN. My son and I are sushi connoisseurs. JRDN Restaurant’s display of sushi was just as incredible as the taste! We were very satisfied (Stuffed)!! I am sure my son would have eaten JRDN for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if he could. The food is well worth the price. We will be back,...
Read moreWe loved our stay in room 305 ocean front 2 queen beds 3rd floor. The room is a great size with a beautiful view, nice bathroom, huge tub, separate shower, and sooo clean. The beds and bedding are very comfortable. We requested firm pillows when we booked the room. Unlike a lot of hotels they had firm pillows for us. The beds were very very comfortable. Our kid loved the big soaking tub. Having the separate tub and shower was great when we needed to get ready quickly. One can shower one can bathe at the same time. The service was fantastic!! Our first interaction was with the Valet. They were very welcoming, friendly, and professional. When we got to the dest to check in we were again made to feel welcome. The Valet beat us upstairs to our room waiting for us with our luggage. Every time we needed our car it was brought to us quickly and again so friendly. As soon as we walked into the room I know I made the right choice. I am a stickler about a clean room. I do my usual wipe down. lol I know lol Yes I am one of those. That was the cleanest room wipe down I have ever done! I actually walked around without socks on. lol Every time we were walking through the hotel someone was cleaning something, cleaning carpets, glass railings/walls, ect. Some have mentioned dated furniture ect. It was not terribly dated and it was clean and functional. There's so much space to have your belongings set up off the floor alone with two luggage racks. The room and view really are beautiful. You can't beat the view or location. There are so many great places walking distance to eat and shop. The hotel also provides boogie/body boards, towels, bikes, ect. You don't have to pay for an over priced $20 for a boogie board. We are so looking forward to going back and making Tower 23 our San Diego "home" hotel. The pictures don't do the...
