First time staying with Worldmark.
PARKING and GETTING AROUND: The underground parking is great. The location is pretty strange...but we got around ok. A couple days into it we pretty much knew where we were going. We used GPS alot. You need a car with this location. period. There is a mall across the way that has a Target which came in handy for shopping (food allergies).
THE CONDO: The kitchen was great. It had a microwave, full size refrigerator, stove and oven and the cabinets and drawers were stocked with everything needed to cook (other than food). They even had spices (little packets of garlic, onion and a bunch more. There were even these tiny salt and pepper shakers). The bedrooms and bathrooms were quite large and had tissues and toilet paper and there were blowdryers on the wall in each bathroom. Everything was clean and I found the unit to be more than comfortable for the three of us. We had a 2 bedroom 2 bath on the fourth floor. They provide laundry soap, dishwasher soap, dish soap, bar soaps, towels, washcloths, hand towels, a fully stocked kitchen and there are tvs in each room with cable. THERE IS NO FREE WIFI HERE, I REPEAT NO FREE WIFI. Crazy, I know. It is $5 a day or $16 for 10 days. Even the $49 motel down the street offered free wifi. This is why I only give the place 3 stars. Free wifi would move it to 5 stars. It's a big deal Worldmark. Get with the times.
THE PEOPLE: Everyone downstairs was pretty friendly although the person behind the counter in the morning seemed annoyed when you spoke to her. It made me uncomfortable and I didn't want to ask for anything from her. The sales pitches are frequent....we received two or three phone calls (don't answer the phone!) and two letters sticking out of our door. We simply did not have time (and have no interest in owning a timeshare or sharing our information) so we politely declined. It was only slightly annoying for us, but reading these reviews ahead of time prepared me for it. The lady (didn't catch her name) who was vacuuming the front was really friendly and said hi and spoke with us every morning (especially to my 4 year old who thought he was a big boy getting a cup of coffee that he would hold and not drink every morning...LOL). Those conversations made our days very pleasant.
AMENITIES: We did not use the pool, hot tub, exercise room or grills, but we did use the laundry which is complementary on each floor. On the fourth floor there were two facilities on each end and they had 4 stacking washer/dryers.
Overall it was a great experience...we LOVED San Diego and explored beach after beach after beach! We would stay here again given the...
Read moreI've been a Worldmark owner for almost 16 years, and just recently within the last five years I have noticed it becoming more and more of the "scam" type of timeshares. My family and I have an upcoming stay at the Mission Valley location. I have stayed at this location many, many times before, but all of a sudden they have changed things like applying a parking fee of $25 PER NIGHT for owners. I was told that it's because there have been thefts in the garage (which is gated and can only be accessed with a room key card) and that the $25 FEE PER NIGHT has been applied for the safety of the guests (really?) I'm from San Diego (lived in the MV area for a few years) and hearing this information doesn't make me feel safe, especially because I know for a fact that there are plenty of homeless people living in the hills, canyons and close to the river. (Now, the homeless might not be doing the thefts, I'm just making people aware that this isn't a high-end, super safe area.) So, Worldmark would prefer to make guests pay for their safety, instead of providing guests with free, or even affordable parking? That doesn't make sense to me. Below is the text message that was sent to me.

I'm giving this one star because the customer service is great and usually so is the maid service ( they actually provide 5 star service) but this review is solely based on Worldmark as a company. Wish I could have given them zero stars. Shame on Worldmark for nickel-and-diming its owners, San Diego is already an expensive place to visit and stay. I hope the cost for the parking at least trickle down to...
Read moreit was an amazing location but we didn’t realize until we got there that it’s actually a time share property so they immediately hound you about going to a “seminar.” the rooms were great, we had a full kitchen which was nice so we didn’t have to eat out the whole time. we went to a grocery store nearby called Food 4 Less and got groceries for the week and they were not as expensive as we thought they’d be. the hotel only has one pool and one hot tub, the entire 6 days we were there, there were always people in the hot tub so we could never use it. that was really disappointing. they also have a game room that has some arcade games, all kinds of card/board games, and different kinds of lemonades/koolaids all night. that was really cool and we went down there a few times and played some games. the kids liked that a lot. we loved that our condo was two bedrooms so we still had privacy from the kids. housecleaning won’t come in or bring any extra supplies unless you specially ask. they have a “mini” store in the lobby with overpriced items lol. the location of the hotel was the BEST part, i mean it couldn’t have been in a better location. there is SO much to do around that area that you’d never be bored. Mission beach is fantastic if you have children, all kinds of games and rides and entertainment. La Jolla is also close by and you have to check out the Cave Store! Sea World and the San Diego Zoo are both really close to the hotel. Balboa park is a huge park that has tons of things to do, we walked and explored that one day. and my absolute favorite place to go was Torrey Pines State Park. this place had the most beautiful, breathtaking views I’d ever seen. Oh and if you’re visiting for MCRD boot camp graduation, this hotel is perfect because it’s not far at all from the base. (that’s why we were there) I will say the hotel does not offer free wifi which i thought was odd. it was $5/day. and they do not have smart tvs so you can only watch cable. All in all, I would definitely stay there again because the price was really good for being a full condo and it was clean and in a...
