I had the most disturbing experience at The container store located on Friars Roda today while looking for a jewelry organizer. It was my first time ever shopping at the container store and most likely will be my last. One of the sales associated proceeded to follow me around the entire store as I browsed the aisles after I told her I didn’t need any help and was just browsing. She was an older woman about 5'2" with grey hair. It was my first time in and I was just casually walking through the aisles and there she was at every corner. Not only was this super unprofessional and down right discriminatory, but also makes me want to return the items I bought and never shop there again. I wasn’t wearing anything crazy, literally a workout outfit so I didn’t look suspicious. I hope they can make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else as it was such a sucky feeling to think someone thinks ill of you for absolutely no reason. I didn't ask her name because I wanted to limit the interactions with her. When I went up to pay she was speaking with the cashier who rung me out and they were talking and looking in my direction as I walked up the checkout, obviously making me believe they were talking about me. I expect better customer service from a store that is so highly regarded and not this awful interaction I received. There were a few more people in the store as well, but she really didn’t say anything to them but stalked me. Super weird...
Read moreSCAM, BUYER BEWARE OF RETURN POLICY! I purchased the elfa closet system and the elfa dry wall anchors. These anchors are cheap and poorly made. After following all directions VERY CAREFULLY, the 10 anchors did not stick in wall and hold up top rack. Removing the anchors caused significant damage to wall. Had to patch up 10 holes.
I decided to return the 2 packages of anchors to store...only one anchor was damaged because we only tried 1 screw in 1 anchor.
They refused to refund me my money because they said the item was damaged. Only 1 anchor was damaged from one package. The other package was opened and attempted to use...but was not damaged. If an item doesn't work out for a customer, aren't they allowed to return it? 🤔 How do you know if it's going to work or not if you don't try it? 🤔 Shouldn't I have at least gotten refunded for the package that was attempted to use but not "damaged" ? 🤔
I was so disgusted with their business and overpriced items AND THE COST OF DAMAGE TO MY WALL, that I refused the store credit and told her to keep it and keep the anchors. I don't want to do business with them.
Go to home depot or lowes and buy your wall anchors. THEY BOTH WILL refund your money if you try an item and it doesn't work out for you.
Better yet...they have their own closet systems that probably aren't as overpriced as the Container Store.
Hope those displays in store are hung with real dry wall...
Read moreI think this place is better for inspiration than for purchases. Whenever I buy something here it ends up being more cute than functional. I don't know what it is about their stinkin colorful sticky tabs and tapes that get me every time but I know I'm not the only one with this problem.
Here's my super insight.. When I used to work as a personal organizer it was all to common that I would find someone's stash of container store goodies STILL IN THE BAG, or dusty or buried beneath some pile. Container store items never helped these people get organized! It just added to the piles! I think getting organized is something that some people will always just need a little help from a human to accomplish. No matter how many adorable organizing boxes you buy, you still have to think through your process and the way you live day to day in order to make a meaningful change. You aren't going to pick up some new Container Store goodies and suddenly get everything in order. Sure these items can help out, but I think you can buy the same stuff for better prices elsewhere.
Now if their products organized themselves when I bring them home by coming alive Beauty-n-the-Beast-style then I'd give Container Store 5 stars. I mean, for these prices the stuff should...
