Bread & Butter Market & Deli — Restaurant in San Francisco

The owners here do a number of things wrong: 1) They take credit from neighborhood locals who hassle them for additional credit constantly for cigarettes and coffee; 2) have a refrigerator cooler in the back that is not even cool full of out of date warm beverages; 3) give different prices for items that are not marked with a price; 4) have way of date and, therefore, rancid potato chips and other out of date items on the shelves; 5) don't offer the same variety even of coffee--bait and switch? or just too cheap to stock a good coffee? 6) cater to strange customers like one regular who comes in the middle of the day for runny eggs, which usually smell up the store, which that customer eats near the coffee set up; and 7) offer deli items that are old and out of date and not at all fresh and don't even get weighed with an accurate scale. That's right. If you get a batch of shrimp salad or some meatballs here, you will be way over-charged. Unless, perhaps, you are one of the Tenderloin panhandlers that Bread and Butter gives credit to. Then you might be treated...

I needed some coffee. This place was there. The coffee was fresh, hot and warmly welcomed by this Marcher. I had spent the last few hours ralling with the kids. Man, it was great. Anyway, I needed a break and here was this beautiful store, so why not? I use a cane when walking because of a strange condition which constricts my blood from flowing where and how it should. The coffee hit the spot. I had been walking for hours, so it was a greatly welcomed treat. The place was extremely clean and well stocked. Being that my only purchase was coffee, I have no real way of saying what their pricing was like, so you're going to have to find that one out for yourself. If you need a well stocked "corner store" in the Tenderloin, check them out. I do not think you'll be disappointed. Good luck...

I've lived in the neighborhood and used this particular corner store out of choice for decades. All the workers are very good people who are come to know as friends and neighbors. The food is always fresh well prepared made on site hot and cold and tastes delicious. If I need an espresso or latte it's the most reasonable place to go. Everything you need is here. You can dine in you can pick up you can call and order delivery you can do whatever you want at this place I highly recommend it !
