Worth the wait!! Get there before the line starts to wrap around the block. They hand make everything in house. It was a joy to watch them form each dumpling!! It’s truly made with love and care. Every dish is made in house, made to order.
The staff were all so happy and attentive. Someone greeted me right away and because I came at 5, I didn’t stand in line long so the wait for a table was pretty quick. The tables aren’t crowded so you will have plenty of elbow room. The wait staff all work together in efficiency and I was so impressed with the synchronicity of the wait staff.
I started with the wood ear mushroom salad. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the size. It came in a shareable plate although I was on a solo dinner. The mushrooms were fresh and satiable.
My dishes all came out back to back so I wasn’t waiting long in between. The green onion pancakes and boiled veggie dumplings were mediocre but despite the conventionality, the pan fried juicy chicken dumplings hit it out of the park!
I INSIST on the juicy chicken bao! Dip it in chili peppers for a little spice and wow!! It’s the eye closing, deep breathing, warm and comforting bite that makes you want to sing.
Of course you can’t have dim sum without xiao long bao (soup dumplings). The soup was savory and delicious, the dumpling wrappers were perfectly made and steamed. Soft, tender, perfect thickness.
Overall, Dumpling Home needs to be on your list when you visit the Bay or even if this is your home! Dumpling Home dim sum far exceeds other dim sum houses for the peaceful ambiance, friendly and attentive staff, and delicious food!! And bonus: it’s not going to be directly in the middle of Chinatown so if you’re like me and not a fan of heavily crowded areas, Dumpling Home is your go to dim...

Read moreMy friends and I got there half an hour before they opened on the weekend, but there was already a line forming outside the restaurant. The line was really big by the time the restaurant opened. Dumpling home has both indoor and outdoor seating areas. We tried their following items from their menu - Numb and spicy pork XLB Pork XLB Green onion pan cake Seasoned beef with special sauce Dry shrimp egg and chives pockets Pork bao Ginger and green onion noodles Pork and vegetable pot stickers Seasoned beef pockets Thai iced tea
Let me start by saying that the food was overall delicious. The XLB soup was very flavorful, and the pork filling was juicy and soft. There was a decent amount of soup inside the XLBs. They also provide you with a soup spoon so its easier to break open the XLB without spilling the soup. The numb and spicy pork XLB wasn't really spicy at all. The covering of the XLBs was firm enough not to break that easily when grabbing it, but it was slightly thicker. The green onion pan cake was very thin and didn't have much flavor. The seasoned beef and seasoned beef pockets are exactly the same thing, except one comes with pockets, and the other doesn't. The beef was a bit dry, and the oil/sauce it came with was a saving grace. It's better to order one of the two dishes (seasoned beef or seasoned beef pockets) because they taste exactly the same. The ginger and green onion noodles were slightly firm and quite flavorful. Shrimp egg and chives pockets were pretty decent, too. The service was fast. A little more attention from the serves would have been nice (nothing serious), but the place was packed, so I understand. I mostly came to get my XLB fix, and I wasn't...
