What a lovely little find in the Hayes Valley. I had walked by here before but never thought to drop in untill I ended up after dinner before the symphony on evening. It was cold outside and I wanted a coffee and instead saw the menu display showing the sipping chocolate with was intriguing.

Went in and was instantly amazed by the high patisserie nature of all the chocolate selections. The designs and the flavors were really quite exquisite. It's worth a drop in just for that.

I really wanted to see if they would hold a candle to some of the best hot chocolate I've ever had and I had a feeling they might match it especially with all the varieties they had on the board. I opted for the Spiced Dark Chocolate with Oatley (oat milk) rather than milk which was served in a lovely cup and saucer.

The first sip can be described as a velvety, chocolatey bloom inside my mouth and made its way into me instantly warming my belly with a light, spicy finish that knocked my throat beckoning me to go for the next sip. It was exquisite and delicious and something that should just be savored and appreciated without asking too many waisting it thinking to many thoughts.

Go have some it is...

A true xhoxlatier but from another state. Nice flavors for sure! One day for Pride in The City they had a 1 day special on 6 select blends for 1 dollar, NEVER SAW THAT BEFORE, GOOD to still see them here In Hayes Valley corner shoppe/botique. Pretty seating at night. Tasty delicies!beautiful and colorful pieces as artwork. Coming from Twitter Bldg Market, Nuubia is grande and C.E.C. gives them a run as they moved out last year but still in Pleasanton, poor Or rather xhallenged or other C. Has now moved 3x since Emeryville. Michael is still a fave and another competitor that C.E.Choc stands strong against (Recchuiti-metwith the retired Chuck William's nm in his Flagship store Union Square) and I worked for Truffle extroadinaire JSConfections on 3rd before closing, so...I know my local chocolatiers! And now the newer Mission run Dandelion is giving CEC a run on competition. Socola just has more runs than C.E.C., but for presentation, C.E.C. wins our hearts. They...

Went here for the pairing event with Moonlight Brewery.

Damn. These are the best chocolates ever! I would love to buy out the store. They also have lots of choices for non dark chocolate lovers. LOTS of choices. Everything here is made from all natural ingredients, no preservatives. and you can tell. Also hear the hot chocolate is TO die for.

I wanted to try at least HALF of the chocolates (basically all of them that weren't mainly dark chocolate, lol). Sadly I couldn't. My one criticism, is that because everything is mostly hand-crafted, they are expensive. Now, don't get me wrong, it's worth it. I just don't have the funds to try very many.

I would say definitely check it out at least once, if you're a native. Definitely bring your tourist friends and family.

And if you ARE a tourist and you visit Hayes Valley and don't stop in here, even if its just to stare at the gorgeous pieces of artwork called chocolate,...

Bay Area | Hayes St in San Francisco: A Hidden Gem You Don't Want to Miss

I thought they opened at 10am (11am) , so off to Sees I went and knowing how expensive these chocolates are at Christophers I had no real intentions of coming back when they did open. Well I found myself walking right by it on my way back to work and said wth I will look. Right off the bat the young lady at the counter was friendly and welcoming. More so than any candy shop I've visted in the bay area. I went to another place close by and when I asked about a sample they looked at me like I was an alien and said no. I fully expected the same answer at this upscale chocolate confectionery, so much for my expectations. Not only one sample but almost as many as I wound up buying. I felt no rush in my selection and when it was all said and done I bought two - four piece boxes at $10 each and walked out feeling good about it, in part because the candy is that darned good and mainly the warm customer service I recieved.

Great hot chocolate. Their seasonal boxes are great gifts, I just wish they would offer a few of their seasonal bonbons for individual purchase every once in a while.
