A wine bar that combines some of the best eats at the Ferry Plaza... I don't think I could ask for more than Cowgirl Creamery's Mt. Tam, cured meat from Boccalone and Prather Ranch; satisfyingly complete with a glass of wine ... or two. This adorable little liquor shop includes a bar and just a few high-top tables for patrons to enjoy drinks and relax.
$31.75 Italian Salumi & Cowgirl Cheese Combo - 5 oz. half round of Mt. Tam, Prather Ranch Soppressata, Boccalone Lonza, Prather Ranch Country Ham, w/ Boccalone whole grain mustard, olive mix, Acme Epi baguette, McQuade's Celtic Fig & Ginger Chutney: My friend and I shared this platter along with a couple glasses of white and red. I don't remember which wines we had, but they were delicious. It's been a while since I've had Mt. Tam triple-cream cheese. It is just as smooth and buttery as I remember. The Acme epi is one of my favorite breads as well. It really is an excellent combination. The soppressata had a chewier texture, while the lonza was more delicate, and the country ham was sliced super thin. The fig and chutney were nice accoutrements, but I usually don't feel the need to add on. The bread, cheese, and meat are already so good together.
I'm sure I'll be back to enjoy more wine in the future. Perhaps next time I'll try the...
Read moreI am travelling and it was my first time to the market hall. I wanted a couple of glasses of local wine. I queued behind a group for a table. After seating the group, the waitress never came back. I then noticed the seating around the bar and thought that might be better because it was busy and I was by myself. I seated myself and the waitress came over and stared. I said 'I have never been here before, can you explain how it works. Are there tastings or do you buy by the glass.' She said 'we have glasses, carafes, bottle and flights' then walked away!! I looked at the lady next to me, shocked how rude the waitress was. The lady next to me gave me her menu and explained what flights were. I decided on my wine and waited 10 minutes. The waitress provided menus to a group an wiped down a table. The other lady behind the bar washed dishes.
I gave up trying to order and left.
The waitress had a terrible attitude!! Very rude and I felt judged. I was dressed casually and they were busy. Maybe she decided she would get bigger tips from...
Read moreI just walked out of this place... I was looking at the menu, and when someone finally appeared behind the bar, I asked him about the section on the menu that said “sweet stuff”. I didn’t know if it meant champagne or something like a dessert wine. I asked him, and he looked at me like he couldn’t believe the question. He said the champagne was at the top of the menu under “sparkling wine”. So I asked him again what “sweet stuff” meant, thinking I’d like to try one of those selections if it was port or another dessert wine. At this point, the angry server said - very rudely- “Well, what is it you’re looking for?” I said that I may be interested in sparkling wine, and then he reached over and rudely tapped my menu - so hard that I almost dropped it - and said “Then forget about this” (indicating the “sweet stuff” section). He may be just an angry person in general, or maybe just having a bad day, but either way his customer service skills this morning were severely lacking. Makes me never want to return...
