Gioia has consistently been one of the better places to get a slice or whole pizza in San Francisco for as long as I have been aware of them circa the Fall of 2019. You are guaranteed a solid slice no matter what direction you take it in. They do the cheese slice right which means they are reliable for toppings both conventional and complex. You can trust this place to deliver. If they ever have an off day, it is still better than a lot of places in the City on their best. Gioia is in the running of top tier slices in San Francisco. From the slice perspective you should absolutely try Gioia if you are considering doing so. There are a lot of places that are not Gioia that you may hear about and feel flippant about.
Understood.
Gioia is one to put on the list of for sure places to check out. If it's your vibe you may have a new favorite place to go. It's in a decent area to walk around where people and things tend to be more pleasant and there other great places to eat not only pizza but several popular places to go. The crowds do not always realize they should be lining up for Gioia. Gioia deserves to much business the employees get overwhelmed.
For the New York Style street slice type of pizza. Go here. For sure.
Please note: there is very very limited seating. That is a huge drawback to this place, unfortunately. With ample seating, no one would be able to stop them. So consider that you should aim to usually just pick up a slice or pie and do as New Yorkers do and walk around with your slice or stand right outside the door eating it in front of the establishment so they can watch how you react to each bite. If you get a chance to sit, consider yourself lucky and sit down for a...
Read moreI purchased from Gioia Pizzeria for the first time and it was a great experience. With San Francisco being under a “shelter-in-place,” order, I wanted to support a local business, especially when I was craving pizza. Let me start from the beginning of why I gave Gioia Pizzeria a 5 star ranking. This may be small to some but it’s unique to me, and that’s the design of the pizza box. I think it’s so cool that the Gioia pizza box has a folded slice of pizza being supported by two hands. I know it’s weird, but, I think it’s cool. Now, on to the pizza. Gioia offers New York style pizza that is extremely flavorful and and satisfying. I ordered two (2) of their recommended and popular pizzas, Pepperoni and Funghi. Now, it’s really easy to mess up a classic pepperoni pizza, but I’m pleased to share that Gioia does it right. The seasoning is perfect, the crust is flaky, and the taste is marvelous. I really loved that the cheese and pepperoni’s were so flavorful. Now, I was sure what to expect with Funghi but it was INCREDIBLE. The Funghi pizza consists of “Roasted Cremini Mushrooms, Thyme, Parsley, Garlic Oil, Mozzarella, Grana Padano, and Tomato Sauce.” I ate this pizza so fast, that I barely had a chance to savor its goodness!!! The only critical feedback that I have is that the delivery options were either for a 14 inch pizza (6 slices) or 16 in (8 slices). I ordered two (2) 14 inch pizzas and even though they were wonderful, it was expensive. $20 each per pizza. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this pizzeria and be sure to order the...

I’ve ordered from Gioia Pizzeria for delivery before, but this was my first time dining in. While the indoor seating is quite limited, there’s a lovely park nearby where you can enjoy your pizza. Overall, a great spot for tasty pizza, whether you choose to dine in or take out.
8/7/2023 Gioia Pizzeria delivered a delightful pizza experience with our three choices:
The Funghi Pie was a winner with roasted Cremini mushrooms, thyme, parsley, garlic oil, Mozzarella, Grana Padano, and tomato sauce – a harmonious blend of earthy flavors that I loved.
The Julian Pie showcased house-made Calabrese sausage, Lacinato kale, red onion, chili flakes, garlic, Mozzarella, and Pecorino, creating a well-balanced and satisfying taste.
The Formaggio Pie, with Mozzarella, Grana Padano, and tomato sauce, highlighted simple ingredients done right.
Overall, the pizzas were delicious, warm on arrival, and delivered with care. Gioia Pizzeria earns four stars for their flavorful creations that cater to a variety of tastes. The Funghi Pie stood out as a personal favorite – a must-try for anyone seeking a delightful...
