My husband and I had been looking for a new couch for awhile, and had looked at lots of other sectional options, including LoveSac, Inside Weather, Crate and Barrel and more. In the end, 7th Avenue Co blew them all out of the water in terms of comfort, quality, fabric performance and beauty. Seriously, this couch is a stunner.
But thank goodness for this SF 7th Avenue showroom because without it, we wouldn't have known and would still be looking for the couch of our dreams. Despite having an awesome site and social media presence, seeing the options in person really made a difference. Rather than just having 1-2 configurations on display like other competitors, 7th Ave had a wide variety of options-- in different configs and colors-- to check out. Pro tip: They also offer a wider variety of color options in-person in the showroom than is currently available online. And they really stand by their kid-friendly/pet-friendly brand because both were welcome in the showroom to help put the models through their paces in real life.
But the best thing about the showroom was Nick. We arrived a little late for our appointment (be forewarned that parking is even more difficult than you're imagining) and he was still beyond gracious and welcoming. He was incredibly knowledgeable about 7th Avenue's offerings and options, and patiently answered our questions, offered suggestions and shared insightful anecdotes from his own experience as a 7th Avenue couch owner. And he also gave an awesome demo of 7th Avenue's truly jaw-dropping stain resistance that you should make the time to see live. Best of all, he wasn't pushy in the slightest and let the product speak for itself while making himself available as a helpful resource. Between Nick's crisp suit, his offer to get us waters and the dedicated one-on-one attention that he was able to give us due to the appointment-only nature of the showroom, it felt like we got celebrity boutique level service.
And that continued even after we'd left the showroom, with Nick graciously and quickly responding to numerous emails from us, as we repeatedly changed our mind about what we wanted and he sent us updated models and quotes along the way. I was especially impressed that our final quote reflected our desired firmness and color since we hadn't reiterated these preferences in any of our follow up exchanges. Nick had simply remembered these details from what he'd organically picked up in conversation as my husband and I tried out the different options in the showroom.
All in all, we couldn't recommend Nick or the 7th Avenue showroom more. I'd read lots of amazing reviews about 7th Ave's customer service online before we stopped by, and it lived up to the hype and more. We can't wait for our new couch to arrive to put a bow on top of this already...
Read moreFor full transparency, in exchange for a product discount, I am writing this review, specifically to explain how 7th Avenue beat the competition with our particular experience. However, even if I hadn't gotten the product discount, I would still give 7th Avenue 5 stars!
We came into the SF store in Ghiradelli Square in December after we experienced a big SNAFU with one of 7th Avenue's biggest competitors. I won't say whom that competitor is, but I can tell you that they have their own version of modular couches and they love their sac-type lounging products. 😉
The aforementioned competitor's corporate customer service was absolutely appauling and the shipping was worse! We ended up buying a couch and then cancelling it due to a delivery window issue. During this process, the corporate customer service rep was very rude and condescending. We had to fight to get the cancellation confirmation emailed to us and a pricing voucher as well, so that we could buy the couch and have it delivered when we were not going to be out of town. Before we bought the couch, we were told we could choose our delivery date through their preferred shipping company, but when interfacing with that shipping company, it was not possible to make that change. Hence, why we asked for a cancellation and a pricing voucher.
When we arrived home from our vacation, we were surprised to find over 15 boxes sitting in our driveway, damp from the precipitation of the atmospheric river storms. Mind you, this was the couch we had cancelled! It turned out it had been delivered the night before. When I called corporate customer service, I told them to send me straight to management because there was a huge problem. Instead, I was hung up on! Two minutes later, I got an email from corporate that they were not able to cancel the order, that the couch was delivered that morning (not true, it was delivered the night before), and that their preferred shipping company could pick up the boxes in THREE DAYS time!
After speaking to management on several levels, they gave me their highest and best offer of an additional 15% off my order for my troubles. Honestly, I thought 20% was a better trade for the 3 hours I spent on the phone to deal with this, plus 3 days of storing their mistake. So, since they couldn't meet me where I thought it was fair compensation, I walked away.
Boy, am I glad I did! Why? Because I LOVE my 7th avenue couch! And this couch is beautiful and soooo comfy! Their customer service was amazing AND attentive! The communication with delivery was on point! The in-store employees were super knowledgeable, willing to do what was needed for me to feel comfortable with this large purchase. I highly...
Read moreI made a last minute appointment yesterday (on a weekday) and was helped out by Patricia. Patricia was extremely knowledgeable, warm, and patient. I brought a picture of my living room with all of my dimensions. I had a certain configuration in mind, but we worked together to come up with the best configuration for my personal needs. As someone who has worked in multiple customer service jobs, I can tell that this is more than just a job for Patricia. She is passionate about her role and truly cares about her clients. I never felt pressured, which is something I was nervous about coming in. I had multiple questions after my appointment and was nervous to email, but Patricia was very prompt and responsive!!
I highly recommend going to a showroom if you have one nearby. It was important for me to see the colors/fabric in person, feel the texture of the fabric, and sit on the sofas to compare the classic vs extra deep and medium-soft vs medium-firm. If you don't have one near you, you can always order free fabric colors online. I went with a custom medium-firm, extra deep in oatmeal beige. I attached pictures of my living room and the configuration I went with :) I plan to mostly keep the ottoman against the window closest to the TV, so I can lay down in that corner when I watch TV. Then I can move the ottoman (to where it is in the picture) and turn it into a bed for others, or a little cave for movie nights. I was initially in between the charcoal black and emerald velvet, but I decided on the oatmeal beige because it is truly timeless. The texture of the oatmeal beige was more "linen" and softer to me, compared to the charcoal black. I love how customizable everything is and that I can always purchase the covers in a different color. I'm so excited to receive my new couch!! :)
Some things I wanted to note: it is very easy to make an appointment online I arrived 10-15 mins early to ensure that I found parking and the location of the showroom I parked at the Ghiradelli parking garage the showroom is located on Polk St, on the west side of the Ghiradelli square once you get there, you ring the button and are allowed in appointments are 30 mins (perfect amount of time in my opinion, I stayed for a little bit longer to make notes but was respectful of other people's time) I got to take home fabric samples
Thank you again Patricia! :) I can't wait to upload a picture of my living room with my new sofa once I'm...
