This place should be embarrassed over how they treat people and what they call food.
We came in on Saturday night. Every table in the place was full except for two. We grabbed one of them. After ten minutes some frazzled bartender came over put three menus on our table and left.
Turns out there was ONE waitress for the whole restaurant, on a Saturday night. While she definitely had the body for it; I’m not sure when wearing a crop top became work attire, but that’s ok.
She was clearly in ten feet over her head and we couldn’t let her even leave with our drink order without ordering our whole meal because we knew we weren’t going to see her again for a long time.
Ordered the brisket, my partner wanted the nachos and another wanted them chips and queso. Surprise “we’re out of chips.” 7pm on a Saturday night at a place where 3 dishes on the menu have chips? Maybe call grub hub and have them send over 5 bags of Doritos from 7-11??
My brisket was ice cold, dry, inedible, and serves with some cold fresh “out of a bottle” BBQ sauce.
Couldn’t get out of their fast enough.
Use cation eating here. They don’t care, and certainly have no idea what good food and service are if they think it’s this.

Read moreHardwood Bar & Smokery is a carnivore's paradise! My recent visit was an absolute feast for the senses. The Bone Yard platter was a masterpiece of smoked meats - the ribs fell off the bone with tenderness, the brisket was juicy and flavorful, and the pulled pork was smoky and succulent. Each bite was a testament to their expertise in slow-cooking.
The sides were the perfect complement to the meats. The creamy mashed potatoes and tangy coleslaw provided a balance to the richness of the barbecue, while the assortment of sauces allowed for customization of every bite.
To wash it all down, I opted for a vibrant purple cocktail that was as delicious as it was beautiful. The mix of flavors was refreshing and complemented the smoky notes of the barbecue perfectly.
The atmosphere at Hardwood Bar & Smokery was lively and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The service was friendly and attentive, ensuring a seamless dining experience from start to finish.

Read moreIn my opinion, not very gay friendly. From the moment my husband and I walked in, we felt the stand-off'ish energy. Everyone was sitting towards the entry, which was full of men and women who just stared at us as we were told the rest of the restaurant was closed and there was no available seating. We were offered a seat at the bar, which we declined and asked to place an order to go. An employee asked us if we knew what we wanted, so we asked for a menu so we could comfortably answer her question.
Once we figured out what to order, we asked the employee for help and she kindly assisted. We payed $100 for a lb. of brisket, a lb. of what they call ribs - which were extremely dry, potatoe salad, fries, coleslaw, drinks and dessert, and the 20% tip.
Trust me, we'll never go back. We moved here from Austin, TX, and have traveled back to Lockhart, TX two times to bring back large lbs. of meat. Walking down the street again to support this place is more trouble than going back to Texas for a to-go order.
