I pretty much never leave reviews, but I have never felt so uncomfortable walking into a business. The guy working the counter was so abrasive and I felt so unwelcome that I ended up walking out and handing back my items. My husband and I walked in with our dog, I opened the glass refrigerator to grab a jar of beef tallow and I'll admit I didn't realize there was small print on the door not open it. My mistake. But the response from the guy behind the counter was so absolutely humiliating. He yelled at me that I wasn't reading, that I shouldn't even be in the store because they only take one customer at a time and that my husband needed to get the dog out. (Also understandable and my husband stood outside). I was so embarrassed that I just put my items back and left. I'm sure the meat here is top notch, but I left wanting to cry being treated like I'm a complete idiot. I was just excited to check out the shop and didn't realize I was breaking all of the rules. I apologize. I hope the guy behind the counter can maybe think through how it makes people feel to be yelled at in front of a...
Read moreWe've had a great experience dining at Niku previously and decided to check out their butcher shop. The quality of the meat is worth it but Chad who was the floor manager when we visited was extremely rude.
We told him what we wanted to make and he said that he could cut us some meat. We decided to go with shabu meat because it clearly looked like he did not want to be bothered to do that at all. I asked if they had steak tartar, and he responded curtly that they don't but they could help us make it? Again, we were just trying to engage with Chad to get suggestions on what to buy and he just shut us down.
My girlfriend and I didn't feel comfortable looking around for long because we felt like we weren't wanted in the store. There was only one couple behind us. The butchers behind the counter were very polite and thankful as we were leaving which I hope was them reading the situation. It's a shame because we could have spent more money there had we have better engagement with the...
Read moreThe burger was absolutely spot on, fresh ingredients and efficient service.
So why the stars? Because I can’t believe that the staff gave us the biggest eye roll when we wanted to pay separately. We ordered $200 worth of food at lunchtime and this guy behind the counter wants to be annoyed that we want to split it up. He wasn’t even the one that processed the payment! First of all it’s TOGO not even a sit down meal so it’s not like we already have everything on one bill and need it to be split up. Secondly, what would have been the difference if we each walked in individually to order? It would have been the same! You still would be processing five transactions… Thirdly, I just paid $30 for a burger and to get that kind of eye roll for something so small is just not the level of customer service nor appreciation we should be getting. We spent $200 between five of us and although the food was great, I’m not in line to come back to the steakhouse nor the...
