When I came to this place, I hadn’t had food the entire day and I was starving. I started to look at the menu and sat down at the edge of one of the chairs on the sidewalk. There was no one inside the restaurant and 1 person standing outside. I was craving cheese ravioli and they didn’t have it. After barely 5 minutes surfing the menu, as I was about to leave, the guy came out from inside, saw me looking at the menu and very rudely asked me if I knew what I wanted. I started to get up and said I think I am good. He continued to frown and said “alright then, this chair is for customers”. For sure it was, and he will never have me as one of his customers. I live in the vicinity but will make it a point to avoid this place, with a rude, uncouth and uncultured owner.
Update: In response to owner's lame reply. No, I was NOT a bus rider. You were the one who gave me the online menu by scanning the bar code on your phone because the one that was pasted on your door didn't work. Hope that helps jog your memory. I was certainly not treated with either respect or dignity. Instead of asking me to leave very rudely, what you could have done is, asked me if I was looking for anything in particular and offered me suggestions, and I might have actually ordered...
Read moreI dine out often on Italian cuisine, and I was anticipating something a little unusual and fun here. What I was not expecting was a 3-hour hunger induced fever dream while waiting for less than average pasta swimming in watery sauce (think Ragu or Prego) to finally hit the table...served by wait staff who acted like they wished they were anywhere else in the world but in this dated decor echo chamber of a loud, uninspiring "whatever" wannabe Little Italy trattoria. You'd do better eating heat lamp pasta at Sbarro in the mall food court. Plus you would still have $55 of the $70 you wasted here. And yes, I have a copy of our receipt.
Update based on owner reply So, everyone who ever leaves a negative review is a fake, and nobody is allowed to leave a review on Monday or Tuesday when you're closed? Here's a news flash for you buddy...people mostly leave reviews days or weeks after patronizing a business. Google actually prompts us to leave reviews for businesses it knows we've visited. Oh, and I'm a level 10 local guide, so best of luck getting this honest, authentic review removed. In fact, based on my local guide status AND the fact that you responded...this review will most likely eventually live at the very top of your reviews in the default...
Read moreIt is such as staple neighborhood restaurant in SF. Unfortunately, the experience is a let down. This restaurant may be very good in 30 years ago and now it desperately needs some updates. The interiors are non descriptive but perfectly fits as a neighborhood restaurant. The noise level is high. People were screaming, properly because of the alcohol consumption on the Wed night. The service is friendly even it is a bit disorganized. The waiter gave us the menu but did not offer the special menu until we asked. We started with calamari fritti. The fried calamari sit on the bed of lettuce and was perfectly fried. However, both the calamari and the aoli need some salt. Both are bland. For the entree, my partner had the special, halibut and I had the pork chop. The halibut comes with the bed of angel hair pasta. The pasta was not drained well so it turned to be a bowl of pasta soup. The halibut need the salt as well. The bone-in pork chop was dried and bland. It need some thyme or tomato to save the meat. I hate to waste food. I took three bits of that meat and decided not to...
