I have been coming to The Snug for two years. Last night, my friend and I were treated very rudely by a woman named Maria. I will never come back or recommend this place to anyone! It was the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life. When we arrived for a drink after dinner, Maria stopped us saying there was a private function and to return in 20 minutes. She was lying. There were four people in the front room on the left as you enter, and the remainder (not many) were sitting at a bar or at tables. There was no function. I have been to many functions in my life and organised them myself. In the interim, we decided to head over to Palmers which had just reopened and we received lovely service. I wanted to head back to The Snug because I was flying internationally the next day and the Prickly Pear cocktail was a favourite cocktail of mine. When we came back a short while later, Maria said at 10pm that the bar staff are too busy to serve us and will close soon. It was utter rubbish. There were three bar staff behind the bar and the place wasn’t busy. I reminded her she told us to come back and I said that I’m flying internationally tomorrow because my father passed away and I only want one of my favourite cocktails. She didn’t budge and had no empathy or care. She made us feel very unwelcome. I left feeling she was racist and ageist. They were the only reasons I could come up with why she was so horrible to me and my friend. Basically, if you are blonde, green eyed, and not in your 20s you are not welcome at The Snug. Looking back on Palmers, they had a diverse mix of customers, but it was obvious Maria was letting a certain type of crowd into The Snug. Thankfully, we moved on to another bar where we were warmly welcomed for our last drink of the night—so the evening ended well, even though Maria...
Read moreI recently visited the Snug, a fancy sit-down bar in Pacific Heights, and I was disappointed with my experience. The drinks at the Snug are overpriced, and the quality doesn't quite match up to the prices they charge.
Also, when I ordered a shot to go with my beer, I was expecting a full shot glass. Instead, the shot glass was only a third full. I was surprised and disappointed, and I couldn't help but feel like I was being cheated. Not only were the drinks overpriced, but the portion sizes were also smaller than expected.
The atmosphere at the Snug is nice, with dim lighting and cozy seating. However, the high prices and subpar quality of the drinks make it hard for me to recommend this bar. There are plenty of other bars in San Francisco that offer better value for money. Overall, my experience at the Snug was underwhelming, and I would not recommend it to others.
In short, if you're looking for a fancy bar with overpriced drinks and subpar shots, the Snug in Pacific Heights might be the place for you. But if you're looking for a good value for money, I would recommend checking out some other options in San Francisco. There are plenty of bars that offer better value for money and...

The Snug is a gastronomic experiment where diners go to a restaurant to order DoorDash. Whoever conceived this has clearly not watched The Bear, or -- if they have -- they really really must hate Richie's character.
Instead of a host and servers, you (gentle diner) will be pointed at a table where you can sit. At that table, there is a QR code which you scan. This leads you you to a patently horrible DoorDash-alike app where you try to make sense of the menu on a 5" screen. Once you order, you wait anxiously... unsure if the restaurant's AI brain has actually received your order. Oh... and don't forget that you must request silverware! (Comically, the app won't let you check out unless you check the "please give me silverware" option.)
After ten or so minutes of realizing that you hate the future, the "server" (really, just a food runner whom I'm sure will soon be replaced by a Roomba) silently deposits your sustenance from the food printer in the back.
The menu is small, and to be fair the food was okayish. I do admit the cocktails were great, but -- if all I wanted was to be handed a drink by a robot, I can do...
