Ok, there is a difference between "Retro Cool" and "Old that desperately needs updating". I would place Motel Capri somewhere in between. While it appears that the owners are sincerely trying to keep this 1960's motel going, I would likely NOT recommend this motel again as there are alternatives that are only slightly more expensive. ||||Pros...||||There is FREE parking. This is a huge bonus as most any hotels that are maybe closer to pier 39 will charge you in access of $30/night for parking.||||It has a nostalgic '60's / '70's vibe which is cool if that's your thing. ||||The room was pretty clean but signs of missing a "full" clean is apparent. (ie found some signs of garbage from a previous person)||||Bed was clean and comfortable. ||||Perhaps the best pro of this place is that it is like 2 minutes away from the famous Crooked Road that you can drive down. We did it twice just for fun.||||Cons...||||Our first room had a large "as advertised 42" TV" but when turned on was nothing but popping and static. Staff tried to fix but was unable so our room was moved to another room. The second room had a much smaller TV. This TV had no sleep timer and the "Dish" receiver needed constant manual power on to get the TV to work. This was VERY aggravating as the dish receiver was mounted on the wall high above the TV. An average non-techy person would have no idea how to get the TV to work. ||||We stayed here for 2 nights and after out first night, the staff came into our room and removed the used towels but DIDN'T REPLACE ANY TOWELS?!!! They also didn't make up the bed!!! If you are going to enter the room to remove the towels, why wouldn't they replace the towels and make up the bed????? We actually had to ask the staff in the office for more towels! They also didn't replace the coffee that was used?! This just confuses me.||||The walls are paper thin! You can hear when someone flushes the toilet above you! Again, ask for the top floor!||||There was NO "Lite Breakfast" as advertised on...
Read moreWe stayed at Motel Capri whilst visiting San Francisco for 4 days with our young daughter.
This place is amazing, and very affordable for San Francisco and the staff and owners are dedicated to making the guests experience the best it can be! My Dad has over 20 years experience in the accommodation sector, so I know what I'm looking for in a room.
Super clean white bedding, not a single mark on it. A very good quality Sealy bed, with a full mattress cover, mattress protector, then bedding. The room was spotlessly clean. Not a single thing out of place, and bonus, aircon which with the 30°C heat experienced on Saturday, it was necessary.
Motel Capri was also able to accommodate our request for a ground floor room, which was helpful with a young child, and the amount of luggage we had, which we were very grateful for. The room we had was comfortably big enough to fit our daughters travel cot in, 3 large suitcases, a buggy, and there was still room. The bathroom was large, there was a cupboard in the bathroom, and a suitcase rack, as well as an iron, ironing board, and coat hangers. There was also a table and 2 chairs which was nice.
Just if anyone is wondering, we had a king accessible room.
The location is amazing, a block back from Lombard, so very quiet, but still close to the hustle and bustle, only about a 10 minute stroll to Fort Mason which has spectacular views.
In reception, there is also information for people, and a computer with a printer which is very handy. The breakfast room was adequate, had a selection of cereals, toast and various drinks. It was open from 8-10am and was nice to go and get something to eat before starting the day. They also offer WiFi which was very good.
If you are looking for clean, comfortable, well priced accommodation in San Francisco, that's in am awesome location, this place is for you. We will stay again when we return to San Francisco.
Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Read moreSummary: Horrible customer service, not good for large groups. Aggtessive front desk staff. Be prepared to beg for extra linens.
This was the worst hotel/motel experience I have ever had. We booked a room with 2 queens and a pull out for 6 adults through expedia. The man at the front desk who I assume is a manager or owner chastised us for having 6 people in the room saying it was only for 5. We looked it up after and even on their own website it says max capacity 6 adults. When we got to the room we noticed the blankets were thin and there were only 3 towels. We asked for an extra blanket each for the beds, 2 extra pillows, and more towels. At that point we were grilled about how many towels/blankets/pillows we had, how many people were staying in the room etc. He reluctantly gave us 2 blankets and 1 pillows. We went down again the next day to ask if we could please have some towels and another blanket. Again, gave us a hard time about the blanket. We were delivered the towels. Still no blanket. We had the window closed and heat up, and the room was extremely cold without an extra blanket. The next morning a member of our party that was freezing the entire night went for an extra blanket, he AGAIN absolutely refused. That party member and the manager exchanged words, leading to him telling our party member to "get the f* out" of the hotel office. Our party member replied with a similar sentiment. We were kicked out of the hotel and given 2 hours to check out for "verbally abusing staff" even though the "verbal abuse" he recieved was instigated by him. I don't recommend staying here especially if you have a larger number of people such...
