The food here isn't the worst but definitely not the best. The pictures look pretty but the flavors aren't always there. For example, the carne asada, its dry and they don't season with at least salt. The mixed molcajete was also very under seasoned and the meat dry. The seafood soup is ok but nothing to write home about. All things I could probably overlook if the staff here were nicer and accommodating . The last couple of times the heavier set guy with the fake lashes was so rude. We were greeted and sat at our table by the slim dark skin guy. We ordered drinks and they were brought out by the same (slim)guy. I poured half the beer in the glass and proceeded to take a sip, only to realize there was broken pieces of glass shards at the bottom of my glass. I was glad I noticed before I actually hurt myself. I called the waiter over to show him and express my concerns. He looked at the glass without saying a word and took the glass to the kitchen. The heavier set guy (with fake lashes)came out with another glass, no apologies or replacement for my beer that was thrown out (I was charged for the beer). I pointed out that they should probably inspect the rest of their glasses for more broken glass but he immediately turned his back to me and went back into the kitchen area. The whole meal after that was super awkward because he would walk by giving me a look like it bothered him that I pointed out their mistake. I let it go. On another occasion my partner convinced me to give it another whirl since he likes their seafood soup. I reluctantly accepted. We were greeted and sat by the same heavy set guy . It was a very hot day and again we were looking forward to an ice cold beer. We ordered and after 15 minutes of waiting he came back with our beers. The beers were room temp. So my partner flags him down. I asked for ice and told him about the room temp beers. The guy got so annoyed! He very rudely told me that no one else had complained about the beers being warm. He went on to say that there was beer on almost all the other tables and we were the only ones making trouble over it. All I asked for was ice and instead of being accommodating, he took it upon himself to tell me I was being problematic. I wanted to get up and leave right then and there but our food order was headed toward our table by then and so we decided to stick it out. Needless to say , I will not be returning to this place. That guy needs to stay in the back with that attitude and not interact with the costumers on the restaurant floor. Like I said, the food isn't even that good. I feel like all the reviews are from people that have one too many drinks before they actually have their meal. Food is way over priced to top it off. Maybe instead of flowers and toothpick flags on my plate they should worry about actually...
Read moreI just happened to be looking for breakfast places one morning around this neighborhood. I stumbled on this restaurant and saw in one of the pictures they had a molcajeta bowl (my most favorite thing in this whole entire world after experiencing it at the iconic Casa Vega in LA). I proceeded to text friend "omg omg omg". We went a few hours later for lunch.
I was a little bummed the molcajeta bowl was made with verde sauce instead of red sauce, but the verde sauce had a very nice kick to it. The plates were beautifully decorated and had a nice bright and airy vibe. It did get pretty noisy in there.
I was truly debating about giving this place three stars or four. Here is my break down: Food: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Presentation: 5 Service:2
The service was terrible. She forgot our guacamole. I had to ask her when it was coming out. She said oh it will have to be with the meal. She couldn't take ownership that she forgot it, or apologize for forgetting it. My friend asked for a ginger ale. She started to name beers. My friend said no, I want a soft drink not something with no alcohol maybe something like a Mexican coke. She said no we dont have any of that. My friend looked at her weird and said okay. I'll guess I'll just have water. Then on her very next trip out of the kitchen she has a ton of bottle Sprites. We pull her over and she looked confused like she didn't understand us. She finally got my friend a Sprite. I ordered a coffee, which forgot to refill. Once she gave us our food, she never spoke another word to us. After we ate our very delicious food. We sat around with a million plates on our table... ( since the app came at the same time as the meal) and waited and waited and waited. Finally I get her attention and say we need our check. Then we waited and waited and oh yeah waited.... she forgot again. Then I pull the other server and he brings us our check right away. Of course I left zero as a tip and I ask the other server to speak to the manager. He went and grabbed our server. Then I asked him " Is that the manager?!?!" Yes, then I asked to see someone else and I continued to wait and wait and wait. Then our server and comes over and asks if everything is okay. I explained why we left no tip and that she paid attention to every table except for ours, forgot the app, did not understand that we wanted a soda, forgot to refill my coffee, forgot to grab us our bill after I just asked you. I said the food was amazing the service was absolutely terrible and I would like to come back for the food and I hope next time the service is better. After reading on yelp, my friend made a comment that it seems that they ignore non Spanish speaking customers which makes me very sad.
I will give this place another try but I will try to get...
Read moreGoing for a walk with my baby I came across this restaurant and decide to order few things from the menu with couple sides. The food came out pretty standard although the owner Samuel was all talky talky about their specialties. When i got home the sides were missing..not a good start right there specially if you have already paid for. Second time around i order the fajitas and same deal bunch of chewy beef with no flavor.I from South America with a strong cooking background. If i said no flavor you better believe me..Ok i let it slide because I literally live across the street from there. Third time I order other the famous "Torta de carne asada" but be aware they have Tortas and sandwiches. When I order I ask whats the different if in the Menu are describe the same.Half Girl answer give me attitude on the phone because she said to me "well..everyone knows the difference" so I ask her again so what is the difference if you describe it the same with the same words on the Menu?? She sight...then she said the bread!! I said well you need to correct that on your website she said"Ok whatever" that was totally rude but anyways I was hungry and she is not worth my energy. when I get there as usual they make you wait at least 15 minutes to just pick up your take out. I was ready...I see my food is ready..so the guy with the girl eyebrows came out and give me the check..the check was 5 dollars or more than what I have because I was going to pay cash and I look the prices on their website when I order.I show him the Menu from my iPhone and he denied everything saying..."I don't know that website..I don't know what you talking about..the prices are on our Menu. So all this delivery companies grub hub, dash door, order ahead have those price...that is a total scam and the worse part is that he give me attitude just like that half girl and denied everything. I'm sorry but I never will come back to this place if You want to go to this ghetto place, get over charge and be treat it with no respect this is your place to go but not mine. I will report this to the BBB to have them update their website or take it down.NO THANK YOU...
