Five stars is simply not enough for the service that I received. I would give them 10 if it were possible. Erich Christjansen and the team of advisers and mechanics here are top notch!
I have a 2012 Volvo XC90 with low mileage, so you can imagine my surprise when I started hearing an issue with the wheel/break assembly. I took my car to another location only to be told there was nothing wrong...repeatedly.
In a last ditch effort before trading it in elsewhere, I scheduled an appointment at Royal. I arrived for my appointment and was greeted by Erich Christjansen. He immediately sensed my frustration and without my asking, dug into understanding why I was concerned and what my previous experience had been. But this is not why I would so strongly recommend seeing Erich at Royal SF.
He actually cared.
He personally test drove my vehicle and confirmed what I was experiencing. He worked very closely with the mechanics to dig into the issue and find the source. They found an issue that had been overlooked and was the source of two complaints I had. They had to order parts so Erich arranged for transportation to the rental car location and then arranged for a loaner car. He personally called to keep me informed and updated until my car was ready to be picked up.
Erich and his team also surprised me with a detail to my vehicle. Why? He did it as an apology for the service and issues that I had received from another dealership - one that is not even part of Royal. When I picked my vehicle up, he was off of work. I received a call from him, personally, a few minutes later simply to check in and see if my vehicle was driving well and to thank ME for my patience and for the trust I placed in Royal SF.
One person took the time to hear a complaint. One person took the time to properly address an issue. One person single-handedly changed my entire opinion of the Volvo brand.
I will remain a loyal customer here and cannot say enough positive...
Read moreI bought a 2025 Volvo XC60 Hybrid last November. It has taken a long time to provide a review because, at age 70, I can be technologically challenged at times. I gave up after making multiple attempts. This time it worked easily. Go figure. My sales person was Jacob. I travelled from Bethel, Alaska, to purchase my Volvo, on the day after Thanksgiving 2024. I knew I would be moving back to Anchorage in a few months and would have my Volvo waiting for me. Jacob spent most of the day with me as I decided to purchase my car. He treated me with dignity and patience and kindness. I wasn't treated differently because I was a single woman (widowed) and a senior citizen. I mention that because there have been car dealerships where I wasn't treated with respect because of my age, status and gender. It was refreshing and a pleasurable experience to deal with Jacob. Once I decided to purchase my car, Jacob worked hard to get a finance package to work for me. I made good money but I didn't have the perfect credit score. Bumps in my life caused my credit to go down. But once again, Jacob did not treat me like a second class citizen. He continued to treat me with the utmost respect. We got a bank to finance me, and the deal was done. And Yaakov, with the finance department, pulled together the entire deal. I couldn't have asked for better service from both Jacob and Yaakov. And despite the fact that it took me 11 months to figure out how to post this review, Jacob recently reached out to me asking about my welfare after the terrible storm that hit Bethel and many villages in Western Alaska. He did not forget me almost a year later and was worried about me. Jacob is not just a good car salesman, he is a good person. Honesty and good moral character are the best qualities of a salesman in my book. I would highly recommend buying a car from Jacob at Royal Motors in...
Read moreI unfortunately have to write a poor review of this dealership after purchasing a CPO XC90. Sure I understand that rotors aren't covered on the warranty, but 7 months and 7000 mostly freeway miles later I should not have to replace fully warped front rotors. Somehow they decided to put new brake pads on the car prior to me purchasing it, but deemed the rotors functional enough to sell. When I emailed my sales rep asking what the heck happened during the inspection, he passed me to his GM who emailed me refuting any responsibility and wishing me on my merry way.
Like I said, I get they aren't covered by the warranty but these rotors should have been replaced with the new brake pads so that they wear evenly. I truly do struggle to comprehend how they went from a "pass" on the inspection to completely non functional so quickly.
There's a difference between doing the right thing for your customer and holding to a company policy for a strict bottom line; it's obvious which direction was taken.
2/17/20 UPDATE: After being contacted by Andy after posting my original review, I was put in touch with Dave Torkelsen. He was incredibly professional and apologized that this situation hadn't been handled properly, while also proposing an ideal solution. While the original situation remains, I am very impressed with the speed in which this was resolved by Dave and the integrity of...
