Update July 2025: Went back to Simon and VW of SF for my third VW in 6 years! I have car commitment issues, apparently. 😬
I didn't even think of going to another dealer or salesperson when I decided to give up my Mini and get myself back into a GTI. Once I made the decision, I immediately reached out to Simon, who was super responsive.
I let him know what I was looking for and made an appointment to swing by the dealership on a Saturday morning. It took 10 min to go over the numbers for two different GTI trims. We settled on one, then he asked Artem (who's super nice) to show me the car interior for the model I picked while he got the paperwork ready.
Artem walked me over to their finance guy, Yakov, who was also super nice and got everything ready for me to sign.
I was out of the dealership in 2 hours. I could've been out of there even sooner if I hadn't wanted to check out the car interior because Artem had to drive me to their storage lot. There was no time wasted on the dealership nonsense so many of us buyers are tired of, and none of the smarminess that I've unfortunately experienced at other dealers.
Anyway, I highly recommend Simon and his team if you're looking for an Audi, VW, Mazda, or Volvo. There's a reason I keep going back to them, and I plan to continue to do so for any future car needs.
Realized I never wrote a Google review for Simon Calimlim, who is, to date, the best car salesperson I've ever worked with. He genuinely wants to help his customers get into a car they love, and I super appreciate that approach.
Two years ago, when I walked into this dealership, Simon was incredibly patient with my questions and honest in his responses regarding a regular Golf vs. a GTI. He spent a good two hours just waiting for me hemming and hawing, and doing comparisons on his computer (I'm so sorry for being THAT customer).
I walked into the dealership with no intention of buying, just looking. But Simon's patience and willingness to work with me to find what I wanted resulted in me walking out around 5-6 hours later (yeah...I took forever to decide) with a lease signed and assured me my new car will be ready for me when I was ready to go pick it up in a couple of weeks.
After the sale, Simon was super responsive to all questions that popped up later. He even responded when I reached out 2 years later to inquire about trading in my Golf for a GTI! (Sadly, they had no GTIs in inventory, or I would've just given Simon my money and be done with it.)
Anyway, ask for Simon Calimlim. He's great, and I plan to go back after my GTI lease is up and work with him again on either 1) buying a new car or 2) leasing a new car.
Thanks...
Read moreEveryone I know who currently drives a VW or had previously owned one loved them. My goal was to find a vehicle that is more city appropriate in size but still had some punch to it. I was previously driving a Subaru WRX and was ready to get rid of it. I had been having nothing but mechanical issues and almost every car I'd ever owned was Japanese made. After a lot of deliberation and research I decided to go European!
As I strolled into the showroom floor Katharine was quick to throw me a very warm hello. She walked over and we just started chatting about cars in general and what I was looking for in my potential next purchase. She never came off like a vulture which you often may experience! As soon as we started chopping it up I noticed a parking space in their very tiny lot open up. She asked if I wanted to move my car off the meter and I sprinted off to go get it. When I got back she was kindly there holding the spot for me. This was excellent because the process of purchasing a vehicle isn't exactly speedy! This was a great start :)
We started chatting about some of the stuff they had on the floor but my mind was already set on the Golf R. She was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to and to my luck they actually had a White DSG in stock. Everything was feeling pretty awesome up until I wanted to test drive the car.
I am a manual transmission purist. Every car I've owned was stick so there was zero chance anyone was going to sell me on an automatic transmission without letting me at least drive it. The dealership was pretty firm on their policy of no test driving the Golf R. I was ready to walk but to my luck she told me to wait a moment and then came back with a set of keys. One of her colleagues had just purchased a Golf R and he was more than happy to give me the opportunity to take his out for a test drive (I can't remember his name). The only difference with his and then one I wanted was the color; Perfect!
As soon as I punched it and felt that power I was sold. Katharine was awesome and I would definitely have walked had she not been able to hook up that test drive. She made the process very easy and effortless. It's been about 3 months since I bought my Golf R and I...
Read moreIf you’re like 90% of the world, the last time you bragged to your friends and family about the amazing experience you had buying or leasing a car is never. UNLESS you’ve worked with Justin at Royal Auto. My family has been leasing cars for over 30 years, bouncing around different dealerships, but I've never encountered someone as patient, honest, and transparent as Justin. My entire family around the country is jealous of our experiences with Justin and my sister now wants to drive over from Nevada just to work with him when she needs a new car. So if you're in the market for a new car seriously do yourself a favor and go see him. Not only does he bend over backwards to ensure you get exactly what you want, but he's also the epitome of honesty and transparency when it comes to pricing and everything else. He’ll tell you what the car does, what it doesn’t do, what it’s amazing at, and what it sucks at. Also, his prices are unbeatable—I promise, no one else even comes close. He’s totally zero pressure and he genuinely cares about his clients and goes way above and beyond to make sure you're happy. I've done my last three leases with him, and even when I moved away from the area, I made sure to drive (what took us 2 hours in traffic) down to work with him again because, trust me, nobody else can match his prices and quality of customer service. Not only did he drive over an hour and a half to personally deliver a car to me with no additional charge, this poor guy spent hours on end looking for the exact version of the car I wanted, on the phone answering all my questions (sometimes more than once), and at the dealership as I went back and forth on all different colors and features a million times. (I’m probably a salesman’s worst nightmare TBH). So if you're in the San Francisco area (or really anywhere in driving distance honestly) feel free to test drive elsewhere especially since I know SF can be tough for that, but when it comes time to seal the deal, for the love of god go see Justin. I promise you won't regret it if you do and I also promise you WILL regret it...
