I don’t know what all the hype is about, but this place was an absolute disaster from start to finish. First off, the ambiance—if you enjoy sitting in a loud, cramped space with lighting so dim you need night vision goggles, then maybe you’ll love it. I, however, prefer to see my food before I eat it.

Speaking of food, I’ve had better meals from a microwave dinner. The hummus tasted like it came straight from a sad, grocery-store container, and the falafel was so dry I nearly chipped a tooth. I took one bite and immediately started questioning all of my life choices that led me to this moment.

Service? Let’s just say I’ve had deeper, more meaningful interactions with a vending machine. Our server looked like they’d rather be anywhere else and forgot half our order. By the time the food actually arrived, I had aged approximately 10 years.

To top it off, the bill was way too high for what felt like a glorified fast-food experience. I left hungry, frustrated, and in need of therapy.

If you’re considering going to Sababa, do yourself a favor—don’t. Your stomach and your wallet...

Sababa one of my go-to places for lunch on the days that I don't get lunch at work (I work at a tech company and we get lunch 3x a week). It's an easy walk from Market St, meaning it's accessible by public transit (BART, MUNI, etc.). Besides its location, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the hours are decent - although they're closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Anyway, what you probably really want to read about is the food. The food at Sababa is omg oh-so-good. One of my favourite things to get here is the pita sandwich with chicken and allll the toppings. They make the pitas themselves in a big oven. The falafel is good here as well but I find it to be a bit inconsistent. I guess it depends on what time of day you day you come by and/or if they've been sitting around for a while. Usually they're good, but every now and then I'll have the falafel and it'll be somewhat hard or dry, so I generally stick to the chicken.

Just writing about it is making me hungry, and I'm already looking forward to coming back...

04/14/2021 Went to sababa to get a falafel sandwich for the first time special because they have fresh pita, so walking in and ordered the falafel sandwich and asked very politely to make sure ,the pita is going to be fresh and warm so he did , as I knew people ( restaurants) have different ways to make the falafel sandwich or some restaurant they add cauliflower some do Pickle or cucumbers So I have the right to ask what are you going to add on , and he was very rude telling me this written here so I said but it doesn’t say Hummus so I’m confused he said yes we are going to add hummus.and he started to lecture me about food industry is so big so .... I was very disappointed with the way he treated me as a customer over that I tipped him by the way the falafel wasn’t bad It was decent special the food quantity. You gotta Have some patient I’m a customer . You have lost a...

Really solid place in the financial district! Super fast like chipotle and quality beyond chipotle. Came at noon with no line really. Food: I got a half half of eggplant and chicken! I also got the beets quinoa and the cauliflower sides which I liked a lot. Especially the beets, super light and refreshing! The chicken was super savory and the eggplant crisp. Service: Quick chipotle serving and small amount of seating indoors. Ambiance: Super super casual place. Overall will probably come again if I want a solid Mediterranean meal!

Their falafel pita sandwich and chicken salad bowl are out of this world! Super fresh ingredients, and tons of flavor in their salads (definitely try the pickled cabbage). It is expensive (although the price is similar to other places in SF) but the quantity is loads. I had 7-8 falafels in my pita sandwich. Whatever I take there usually lasts me for lunch and 3pm post lunch meal 😁

Driving by and notice good amount of foot traffic in this place so I stopped to give it a try, got the pita falafel it was around $14. It was delicious very juicy and flavorful. Definitely ask for extra hot sauce and tahini on the side, I honestly was super hungry but couldn’t finish the wrap, generous amounts. Staff are excellent, satisfied my request. 5/5 will certainly be back.
