Came here for dinner while visiting the City and staying at a nearby hotel. You can't easily tell from the outside, but in addition to the small downstairs area, they have a spacious, beautifully-remodeled dining room upstairs. It has a modern, clean feel, and beautiful classical music was playing in the background.
I was a little worried the food might be too spicy for our liking, but they accommodated our request for 'mild', and it was just right. We had hot & sour soup, orange chicken, sweet & sour chicken, Mongolian beef, and veggie fried rice. Everything tasted absolutely delicious! No greasy, overpowering, artificial-tasting sauces that leave me feeling heavy after.
My kids loved everything too and kept saying (both during our meal and for hours after) that we "must write a 5-star review and go back next time we are in San Francisco". When we arrived at home the next evening, my daughter reminded me several times to write a review :)
Our waiter, who we learned also runs the restaurant, was very friendly and helpful. Bathroom was modern and clean (which hasn't been our experience with a lot of casual city restaurants). Everything was reasonably priced.
Highly recommend and we'll definitely go back when we're...
Read moreWe hit SF for the Chinese New Year Parade today (Year of the Dragon). We arrived early so we could knock off our bucket list item of strolling through Chinatown, as well as fi d a great place to watch the parade. Of course, we all were starving by the time we parked the car, and were looking for the first decent restaurant in the area. Option 1 was to go straight to the crowded Chinatown area or, Option 2, head in the opposite direction.
We smartly chose Option 2 and were very pleased with our choice. We strolled up to Sohunan, which was empty (because everyone was flooding the main drag), and were immediately seated. Moments later, our order was taken. The food was amazing! Mom had the veggie chow mein, while munchkin and I had curry chicken and port dumplings. Absolutely. To. Die. For!!!!!
And, we were told that everything is made from scratch. They even have chili sauce for sale.
We can't wait to go back.
Thank you SO much for your hospitality, attentiveness, clean, bright eatery with amazingly flavorful nummies!!! See you...
Read moreNot delicious as what I expect for Hunan food and the flavors are quite bland. I'm not sure why the review score is so high, but my expectation for an authentic, flavorful Hunan food was definitely not met.
We went in during a weekend dinner and there were very few people - kind of already indicating the place is not so popular.
We tried House smoked beef jerky and house special tofu. Although both looked fine, they were really lacking the flavor. I can taste some saltiness but not much more. I was actually surprised because the smoky Beef jerky didn't have actually the smoke flavor.
Service was so-so. After we sat at a table, the owner asked us whether we needed water. When we asked to pack our leftover food, they were trying to give us fewer boxes and asked if we can stack different dishes together.
Suitable for a quick meal but not the nice vibe - The restaurant is small in a fast food style and not for...
