The View Lounge is located on the 39th floor of the Marriott across the street from Metreon. You can sit wherever you find an empty table. If you're lucky you might be able top grab one by the big beautiful art deco windows that overlooks downtown SF. Unfortunately we were there on a cloudy, misty, rainy evening around 7pm. The lounge was completely full on a Monday evening. We took a lap around the entire place and found a table by the smaller windows. The drink menu is pretty extensive and there is one page of snacks/dessert. We were there to meet a friend before dinner so we grabbed a drink and ordered some house made chips with an scallion dip. My friend ordered the Haight Ashberry which is gin, st Germaine, strawberry and house citrus. I ordered the same but asked for vodka instead of gin. The cocktail was very refreshing and garnished with a fresh strawberry. Bubbly from the st Germaine and a hint of sweetness from the citrus. Hubby ordered a Laphroaig ten year old scotch. It smelled very peaty and he seemed to have enjoyed every last drop. The chips, kettle style thick cut chips. Well seasoned and perfectly crunchy. The dip was good; creamy, a hint of char flavor that adds to the green onion but I'm a simpleton and just looked the chip au natural.

The food was really tasty — truly excellent in terms of flavor. However, we found it quite pricey for the portion sizes, which were very small despite being delicious. Service was good. The view is beautiful. We went around sunset and sat on the side with a view toward the bay — it was lovely, but for sunset, we’d recommend the opposite side of the building, where you can actually watch the sun go down. That view is even more special. To eat, we ordered the chips, which came out hot, crispy, and not greasy at all. They were served with hummus, which was light and fresh. We also had two mini burger pairs — absolutely delicious! The doneness of the meat, the goat cheese, and the sauce made for a perfect combination. Lastly, we ordered the scallops (you get two), which were outstanding, with a sauce that really complemented the dish. Highly recommend those! To drink, we had just a glass of wine and tap water.

Having visited and reviewed most of the rooftop bars in San Francisco, I always find The View Lounge a welcoming pleasant place to hang out. The bar imhas awesome views of the Bay and seating is not difficult to find. Amazing cocktails infused with some experience like Next Level SF Manhattan - several pours of the drink over a king ice. lovely. Most other cocktails Lycheetini, Alcatraz Garden Marg and Old Fashioned are worth trying. Skyline Punch was little too juicy and short of alcohol. Sharing plates are all delicious, mushroom flatbread is extremely think but cheesy and a bit greasy. The best one is Burratta with side of toasted bread. Must try Chicken Tacos. Atmosphere is a bit quite for a bar, could use a little vibe and music to make the place a bit more interesting. Overall, a recommended rooftop bar in San Francisco. Enjoy the drinks and like this post of you find it useful.

My husband and I were staying at the Marquis and decided to have a quick bite and beverage at The View Lounge right at 4pm, when they opened. As expected, the view was beautiful, so if you want a great view, then that's the spot to go. If you're going for food, this probably isn't the spot if you are foodies like us. We had gotten the beef & chicken sliders and the chicken was dry and both the sliders lacked flavor. The short rib tacos were beautiful to look at, but also lacked flavor - although they were definitely the best dish out of the three. I'm trying to figure out the best medium for rating this place, so I went with the average when considering the food, customer service & view (if I could give half stars, it would have been 3.5). We went here on our first day in SF and didn't feel the urge to return for a second visit.

The View Lounge is located inside the San Francisco Marriott Marquis Hotel on the 39th Floor and doesn’t open until 4pm. You need a room card to operate the elevators. I booked a room for my birthday just to experience The View Lounge. The views were incredible as the ambiance. 😍 It’s open seating. (you can sit anywhere you like) Surprisingly, there were many people on a Wednesday night. We had a difficult time finding seating for two. The service was a 3/5. Me and my guest felt rushed to leave by the waitresses. The drinks & food were small & overly expensive. After staying for just 30 mins or so, we left and walked across the street to The Harlequin for steak & burger. Lol. The waiter there wished me a happy birthday and gave us both a free shot.🫶🏼

I’ve been here a few times, and I’d still give it 5 stars every time. I love coming here around sunset to enjoy the view while eating some small bites and enjoying some cocktails. It’s at the top of the Marriott Marquis in Yerba Buena. If you want a 360 degree view of the city, definitely come up here! The views from the heart of the city is gorgeous, and the vibe is pretty cool. It can get a bit busy on the weekend, so I’d come early or come on a weekday night. There are two main sides, the best tables being right at the window. I hosted my friend’s birthday celebration at the hotel and then we came up from her room to the View Lounge and it was so convenient. Definitely recommend!

I was staying at the Marriott Marquis for my 40th birthday (important milestone) in one of the VP suites. I was told upon arrival by the front desk that I should definitely take advantage of the The View Lounge that opened on Wednesday of my stay which happen to be the day of my birthday. We arrived at 5:30pm and it was already crowded. The seating which had the actual views of course were all taken. When my party of 2 inquired about reservations or waiting list, we were told it was a first come first serve & when you see someone get up try to get the seat…didn’t seem like a good process but ok we would oblige. We hung around for 3hrs trying to get a seat with the view. There was no limit to how long parties could stay & everytime a seat became available someone would beat us to it…are we adults playing musical chairs? 🤨 We did have a very good waitress & they gave me a personal birthday cake but no view seating. Day 2, opened at 4pm there was already a line by the time we got to the front, seats gone. Another 1hr & 30min wait and still no one moved. Not wasting my time today we left and again disappointed. Day 3, arrived at 6pm very crowded again & we noticed that most of the people were not even guest of the hotel & claimed to be going to the game. We waited patiently & twice when we got a seat we were told by 2 different waiters the seats were reserved for other parties that had been waiting. Now this was just insulting, after speaking to them they asked us to move both times even when reminded that we were told 1st come/1st serve. One party that had the table reserved even got nasty & in our face asking us to move & said we could have the table when they left for the game…Are you serious? Another waiter suggested that we speak to management because again tables were not reserved & we certainly shouldn’t be handled by other patrons..did I mention we were also guest. We spoke to the gentleman that checked us in at the door & all he offered was an apology, suggested we come back later & he ensured we would have view seating at that time. I kindly told him to get a better process and I would never come back. It’s unfortunate because it looked to be a nice place & the view did seem great but it’s not worth fighting over and certainly not worth how we were treated. My suggestion…get a...
