Absolutely delicious..l was visiting San Jose for several hours just to get in 2 museums…the Winchester house and the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum…. When I was done at the REM I missed the bus so I decided to just walk to the train station (I had a few hours left)…we’ll just a few blocks down on the other side of the middle school I saw this place…it was empty, but open…so I decided to pop in…I was hungry anyhow. I didn’t want to order too much since I didn’t want to be too full while walking so I ordered one “super taco” with carnitas and a Pepsi…..OMG if that thing wasn’t overflowing…..oooph…and if the amount of fillings wasn’t enough, they actually double up the tortillas (corn…the best!) so I was able to make 2 tacos out of the one… I hadn’t had tacos that delicious since I moved up from Homestead several years ago….absolutely delicious and authentic!…. I wanted more but I was already fuller than I should have been so I ordered one more wrapped up to go…once I made it to the train station I ate it and it was also just sooo delicious!… muy Sabroso! if I’m ever in the area again, I would make it a...
Read moreWent for lunch, and it was pretty solid. It’s located in a quiet neighbourhood and finding parking was pretty easy. I went on a weekend, but the place was relatively empty during the lunch hours. The places pretty big and they have seating both inside as well as outside on the patio. You go to the register place your order pay, and then they bring your order to your table. I got the chilaquiles in red sauce as well as a fish taco, as I thought the Chilaquiles might not be enough. Big mistake. I will start with the fish taco. It was a good fish taco with all the usual sauces and a crispy battered fish. It was good, but I feel like I’ve had similar tacos multiple times, so it did not really stand out for me. This was my first time having chilaquiles. Although I knew what to expect, I did not have any reference to compare to. I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed. It wasn’t bad, but I guess I was expecting something else entirely. It came with the side of eggs, beans, and rice. Overall, a decent Mexican place, but I have had better Mexican food in...
Read moreI think of this place as a hidden gem in the rose garden area. I ordered the sopes and although they were very messy to eat, they really satisfied that craving of home cooked Mexican food. The shrimp tacos were also great. No fishy smell/taste to them. The cheese was a nice touch and pulled it all together. The only thing that we really had to wait for was the super michelada. It arrived at our table after we were already more than half way done with our meal. The staff was nice enough to explain why it took so long. The restaurant itself is located in a very quiet neighborhood, right next to a middle school so expect traffic midday during the week. The parking lot is a bit small. Outdoor seating is available and probably preferred since the inside is so small and cramped. Regardless, still a great menu and now that I’ve tried some items I’ll for sure be coming back to order...
