The service started off a little dry, and our waiter seemed to be in a bad mood or off mood, maybe. You can tell by the way he talked & His body language. By the time the end of the dinner came, he did not ask how we wanted to split the bill he just brought us the bill. We then explained to him how we wanted to split the bill for my best friend's birthday. He brought his mother, who was not from American to visit for his birthday. She ended up feeling very bad because the waiter was very disrespectful looking at her son the way he did he then responded with oh you are not going to tip me I thought my service was great and the tip does not come in the check. Those were the words he told to my best friend the mom felt very bad and was trying to find money out of her purse as a seniority she should not be feeling bad because she did not pay for her dinner it was paid for her and the tip was coming from the ones who reserved the party it was very disrespectful for him to come out and say it like that all he had to say was the Gratuity is not included in the check. Though we already knew that. My husband and I were already going to tip him very well after a $400 dinner. The check was only split into 2 my husband and I to care for all the drinks and my best friend to care for his mother and brother. Rather the guy knew where the tip was coming from he had no right to make us feel uncomfortable or make a signority feel uncomfortable and in need to give him a tip just a reminder we are all in this world struggling. There's no need to make someone feel bad because we came into a fancy restaurant for a festive situation. I don't think I will ever be coming to this spot again. I feel very disrespected and very uncomfortable that situation in the way he acted.. No one should ever have to feel like we are reliable to give you a certain amount or any tip at all if your service is not valid enough. Tips coming all forms.. A big thanks and shut out to the chef because we enjoyed our meals it was hot delicious...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe new location is decent but the old roof top location was better in my opinion. Right across from the light rail which is cool if you are doing to take public transportation. Hop off on Paseo de Tiempo and bam.
Anyways, the real reason for this review. Food was decent. Not great. If you are going with people who aren't into seafood, choose another option. This place is almost strictly seafood with very limited non seafood options. The bread they bring out prior to your meal is FANTASTIC! Honestly the best part of the dinner. Fluffy/crispy sourdough. Just like the kind you eat clam Chowder out of a bread bowl type. Super good! Then we ordered oysters. A full dozen. Quite possibly the WORST OYSTERS I'VE EVER HAD! super small! I can't believe we paid $38 for them. I was going to send them back but I didn't want to be rude but check out the photo. Absolutely pathetic.
I ate the Almond Crusted Seabass which was almond sprinkled. Not necessarily a crust. The best thing about my dish was the bench players (garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal veggies, tomatoes, and balsamic sauce). Wife ordered the Stuffed Chicken Breast. Chicken was definitely stuffed and the risotto was tasty. That paired with the mushroom marsala was delicious. The other members of our party had the Crab Stuffed Salmon which they enjoyed. Plating on all items was exquisite. The adult beverages were a hit in our group particularly the cosmo and the pomegranate margarita which are not pictured. My wife orders pomegranate margaritas anytime she gets the chance and knows her pom margs so...
Read moreThe service was horrible last night for four of us. When we went in, we asked if we could get lobster rolls and the host told us, "Yes, just ask your server for them." When we did ask our server, he said no. Okayyyy. So, we ended up getting two orders of Seafood sauté which includes prawns, crab, and scallops, one order of clam chowder, and one order of crab stuffed salmon. I was in the restroom when the food arrived. The people I was with told the waiter that they thought I had ordered the stuffed salmon, the waiter looked at his order and said, "No, she ordered the sea bass," disputing what they had told him. When I sat down, of course, the plate was wrong and they had to take it back. In the meantime, I noticed that our seafood sauté had no crab on the plates. We asked about that and the server said that they substituted more of the seafood because crab is not in season and it's hard to find. Ok. So why didn't he tell us this when we ordered?! My salmon had crab in it, they sell crab rolls next door, but there was only a lack of crab for our sauté plates?! On top of that, the scallops seemed to taste old, they had an ammonia flavor, which is what crab also tastes like when old. Overall, The waiter was inconsiderate. He didn't show one smile on his face and seemed unhappy to be there. I don't recommend...
