Came for dinner and to listen to live music. We honestly did have a great time, it was just in spite of the waiter. The band was great and so was the environment. The food though was hit or miss - bolitas de queso were excellent; the tacos were average; momposteao tasted like the watered down version of Puerto Rican food we get from Don Coquí in New York.
The three stars are reflective of the fact that from the beginning it was clear that our presence was not desired there. I speak native, fluent Spanish, but the waiter pretended not to understand, or just responded in English. We were never given menus, so when we tried to order something directly from their online menu (momposteao risotto) we made to feel like idiots. When we thanked him we were met with grunts or just ignored. We were also the only people who were asked for a COVID vaccine card at the door, while everyone else was ushered through with just a bag check. True that it maybe be because we are visitors to the island, but it if that’s accurate, it seems like a very dumb policy to only require vaccination from people who are visiting 🤷🏽♀️
I wouldn’t necessarily recommend against Delavida, I just don’t actually recommend it either. Maybe if nthey raised their standards of wait staff it would be a...
Read moreI dined at this establishment on 3 Feb 2024. There was a group of 5 of us. Our waitress would only break down our bill into 2 groups; wouldn't let us pay individually. She did not provide us a printout before payment which led to being overcharged a bottle of wine on one of the bills. I pointed this out to her immediately that we were charged $48 for 2 glasses of wine and she indicated she charged us a bottle of wine and a glass. She assured me the she fixed the transaction and I would be refunded approximately $35 for the overcharged bottle of wine. I asked for some type of receipt for the refund and was not given one, just reassured the refund was processed. Our total bill was $162. With the overcharged bottle of wine. The waitress received a substantial tip on the miscalculated bill. To this day, 19 March 2024, I still have not received my refund for the overcharged bottle of wine approximately $35. I emailed the restaurant on 5 separate occasions inquiring about the refund, provided my receipt, and transaction details and have heard nothing in reply. Very disappointing to go on vacation and to be overcharged and not be refunded for a bottle of wine I didn't purchase nor consumed. I would not recommend this restaurant...
Read moreI and my two sisters were looking for salsa dancing, and our Uber driver recommended this place as the salsa spot to go to on a Sunday night. Sunday is their live salsa music day, with bachata and merengue mixed in. They have two outdoor porch areas, the upstairs one was full of people dancing salsa. I was nervous because I had never really danced salsa before, but had learned the basics at home and just tried to look really interested and open to dancing. There were enough of those people who are really into salsa dancing and want to share the experience with newcomers that I had a great time. Some of the guys are great at leading, and even though I didn't know much, it was not difficult once I jumped in. We had so much fun. The upstairs porch has a roof over it, so even when it started raining, people kept dancing. One of the best experiences I had in San Juan.
They require you to show a picture of your covid vaccination...
