Aguardiente Bar — Restaurant in San Juan

Got there with a group of five when the bar was empty. Four rounds of drinks later and moments after buying a hookah, security suddenly appeared and told us we had to leave because its bottle service only and they don’t care that we had a fresh round of drinks and just ordered a hookah. They weren’t moving anyone else, even people who didn’t have drinks or hookah, and there was nowhere for us to go because the place is small and packed. Security was a team of two imbeciles who were sent to rough us up and get us out of there so they can bring in the next group of people to take advantage of. Any decent place would have management come over and inform us that after a certain time it’s bottle service only and give us time to finish our drinks and hookah. You don’t start cleaning a table and grabbing peoples drinks because you suddenly need them gone. This is a trash place that’s just a tourist trap. Don’t bother waiting in line for this place. IF YOU ARE A BLACK OR A WOMEN WITH AFROCENTRIC FEATURES THEY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU IN!

Me and my friend who are both mulattos were denied entry as security let in MULTIPLE white girls and Latinas with Eurocentric features. We went on a Friday night we’re it’s super busy. Multiple white women cut the line and were given access to enter. When we questioned why, the guard stated “they” paid entry but no transaction was made in our presence. They will grant women who look mid access to get in based off colorism and racism. This place should be ashamed of itself as PR is a melting pot of various features and ethnicities. I will be making other women of color aware of their discriminatory practices as a small ration of bw were in the club.

It is 2024, and I’m highly disappointed and disgusted on how the atmosphere promotes whiteness. Will not try to go back and experience this place...
