Freshmart Condado — Local services in San Juan

The only reason I am giving this review four stars instead of five is because the downstairs mart is very expensive ($7 for gluten free loaf as opposed to maybe $5 in the States), and the upstairs cafe service time can be a little slow (but that’s because everything is made to-order).

Besides those notes, the food is very tasty given the price tags (surprisingly low!). A meal for me and my wife was about $15 to share delicious oatmeal, have a scramble sandwich for her, and gluten free pancakes for me. They have fruit and nutella options to top the pancakes and french bread, and they have multi-grain and sourdough options for the sandwich type bread and french bread.

They also have pizzas, smoothies, and salads—but I didn’t try any of them.

This is more than a grocery store. The upstairs serves pizzas, burgers, smoothies coffee and breakfast.

Grocery Store: easy to find organic, gluten free everything. Highly recommend.

Restaurant: we’ve came back a few times and my biggest complaint was the slow service. If you’re in a rush then I would stick to your hotel. The food was good and the menu had many celiac friendly options. If you’re worried about cross contamination get here early before the crowds start ordering. The smoothie we ordered wasn’t good. It was more almond milk than fruit. GF pancakes actually tasted like real pancakes. Highly recommended. Eggs and toast were standard fare.

Small modern organic market in the heart of Condado. It is within a two block radius of the majority of the hotels and is situated among the many restaurants. If you do not open your eyes, you might miss it. This little spot is great. It is filled with a variety of organic snacks, packaged and/orfresh. It is very convenient for stocking up your mini refrigerator or grabbing a meal. It's not crowded, friendly associates, and quality products. I recommend stopping in for some specialty items that can only be found on the island, such as their IPAs, or for a quick break from the crowded restaurants scene.
