A place with great opportunities to be exceptional, however, it needs an equally great manager to get there. The location, facilities, and view are magnificent. The valet parking is very convenient and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible. We went last week for lunch and chose the outdoor sitting area to take advantage of the great weather that day and the magnificent view. We were greeted well and seated promptly. We had to ask the host to adjust the table for it was wobbly and they promptly delivered. The round of passion fruit daiquiris came with a surprise. We are used to ordering Daiquiris and have them come in the frozen form. This one came on the regular form and it was disappointing in size and taste. The waiter changed it (to frozen form) and again it disappointed for it wasn't neither frozen nor not and still lacking in flavor. We gave up on the drinks and ordered some appetizers. The sampler on the menu caught our attention and the waiter mentioned that that there was a seafood sampler available (not on the menu that included stuffed tostones, fried fish, calamari and empanadillas). It was good however not impressive. The sauces need some work. The order of stuffed mofongos (steak and Grouper), churrasco, and fish with rice, beans, and amarillos came out great in size, flavor, and presentation. This is when you say that a restaurant with the history of Lady's should deliver and it did. The service was slow although the restaurant was not to capacity. We were surprised to find out that the oil that they brought for our salad was not olive oil, but canola. Cooking oil for a salad? It should not surprise me. In Puerto Rico they treat salad as a garnish for most people don't seem to ask for it or eat it, but at a place like Lady's, I would have expected a great homemade vinaigrette or at least cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and a good vinegar or lemon wedges. It took a couple of times to ask for a decent dressing until they finally brought a store bought Italian dressing. Although they were lacking in good dressing, the salad wasn't lacking in freshness, quality, and size ( a bit bigger and much better than the average salad in most restaurants in Puerto Rico). When it was time for the check, we were surprised to find out about the price of the sampler. The waiter never mentioned the difference in price and the seafood sampler is not on the menu. The price? $25 ($7 more than the one listed on the menu). They ended up adjusting the price to reflect the sampler on the menu. We were pleased but left with the impression that what this restaurant lacks is a great manager who can give attention to the little details that makes a dining experience memorable and leaves us wanting...
Read moreMy wife and I planned to come here while in Puerto Rico for our anniversary. I tried calling the number listed for reservations, but it would not go through so I ended up emailing.
I asked about making a reservation with the specific details and was emailed back with "Hi Walk in welcome See you soon." From Juan M Gonzalez... This did not answer our request for a reservation at all! So we said we would just go for it anyway because the reviews we saw seemed it may be worth it.
We arrived right at 6pm at the valet which was fast and proceeded down to the restaurant within minutes.
After being seating, not 1 person came to check on us for almost 30 minutes which then a waitress finally came out to take our drink/food order.
Drinks took about 10 minutes (2 Mojitos) and then another 20 minutes for the waters we requested at the same time.
We literally watched 2 other couples and a single person come sit after us, yet get all of their food before us as we just sat and waited with our waitress nowhere to be seen.
At 7:15, a different waiter asked if we were OK and we told him no, we have been waiting for 45 minutes for our food.
The food did not make its way to us until 7:17 pm. 45 minutes after ordering and just a "sorry for being late" which was a complete different waiter.
The chicken my wife ordered was rubbery and tostones were hard like they were just heated in a microwave.
My rice was Luke warm and very salty. I also ordered the chuketa Kan kan which was actually flavorful but overcooked.
With how fast the food got cold and everything about it, we 100% believe the food had been ready and sitting so long that somebody microwaved it and rushed it out to us.
Our waitress then made her way to us twice to check on everything after somebody else had to address us and by this point we were already annoyed and hungry so we told her it wasn't great but we weren't going to wait again for new food.
After we ate enough to be full and head out we waited 25 minutes before we had to call a different waitress over to ask for our check. It was a few minutes after this where our actual waitress showed up again to clean and hand us our check.
The best part about this entire evening was the view.
I hope that the owners and management see this and make sure that others don't get the treatment that...
Read moreWhat a horrible way to change a great experience to just a extremely poor experience in a mater of less then 24 hrs. Went to this restaurant with my husband as it was recommended by a local. We went there on 06/30 around 8ish, the sever was very pleasant and attentive and the food and atmosphere was amazing. The problem came with billing. Servers apparently have the ability to to change the amount to bill you even after you sign and verify the amount you agreed on. We stood there until about an hour and a half, paid and left. The next morning after double checking our account we realized we were charge 28 dollars additional for our meal. We spoke with a lady over the phone who advised us to head back to the restaurant and they would be better able to assist us there. Unfortunately, this was were the problems began. We arrived around noon to the restaurant, we explain the situation again and they made it seam as if it was our fault of not keeping the receipt from the night before. We explained we had the card we used with us, however she insisted she could not help. She did not offer any guidance, apology or resolution. After insisting to speak with the manager, She got on the phone and informed we would have to come back later that evening to speak with the manager. We explained today was our last night in Puerto Rico, again they did not seam to care or show any type of remorse for their error. We left and decided to try and enjoy the remainder of the day and reach out to the manager in the evening before heading to the airport. My husband called the restaurant around 8:40pm and spoke to Luis Hernandez, the manager. Not only did he not assist us but he hung up the phone on my husband!
Just horrendous customer service and THEIVES! The lack of integrity was astonishing! Is it okay to pad your bills and take 28 additional dollar from your customer? The worst part is this all could have been handled differently, it was not about the money but the fact that they did not care to bother to try and make it right. We would never recommend this place to any of our friends or family, we will never go...
