First time visiting this establishment while visiting Puerto Rico in January. My cousin love the restaurant and wanted me to try it.
Upon arrival we were greeted by owners; very lovely humans. Atmosphere was very chill modern Italian eatery.
Love that you can stand and pick your wines. No need for mistake on vintages which their variety of wines has a wide variety!
We started our night with a 2019 Bertani Amarone Della Valpolicella Valpantena.
Appetizers: • Arancini di Riso Al Tartufo were extremely delicious! Perfect amount of truffle but lacking on the flavor of a smoked mozzarella. Needs a bit of work in that sense. • House Croquettes were okay but nothing out of this world.
For entrée: • Penne alla Boscaiola as suggested by our server. Added steak for an extra protein and asked to please have it seared medium but they did it well done. Very hard to chew. All ingredients loved it until I tried the pasta. As for me was overly salty but since I had just arrived and was hungry didn’t changed it. • Lasagna alla Bolognese was very good and perfect size. Simple yet very flavorful • Pasta with creamy truffle sauce was delicious! Will definitely order it next time!
For desserts: • Tiramisu definitely needs major work on it! Tried only one spoon and did not even bother to eat it...
Read moreWe had dinner at Ombra on a weeknight, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The space is elegant yet relaxed, making it a great spot for a laid-back evening with good food and wine.
We started with the lentil soup, which was comforting and full of flavor. For the main course, we ordered the Penne alla Boscaiola and asked for it without prosciutto since we’re vegetarian. The staff was more than happy to accommodate us, and the dish turned out delicious—creamy, earthy, and really satisfying even without the meat.
We also had a bottle of Malbec, which paired nicely with everything. The wine list had a solid selection, and the service throughout the night was excellent—attentive, warm, and very reminiscent of the classic Italian hospitality you’d find in Rome.
This wasn’t a special occasion, just a casual night out, but everything about the meal stood out in the best way. Ombra has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite restaurants...
Read moreOur friends mentioned Ombra as a wonderful place to dine and they were correct. We loved this bistro tucked behind Metro Plaza on Ponce de Leon. Easy parking in the garage although sometimes there is street parking. The food was priced well but even better was that everything was delicious. Beef carpaccio and fresh greens with watermelon were perfect starters. The Branzino special and rib eye were perfectly prepared and we washed it down with a tasty bottle of Barolo! The service was very helpful, and we are thrilled for our first visit. We will...
