Restaurante Airelibre — Restaurant in San Juan

I rarely leave bad reviews but I had to bring awareness to the managemet. We sat and after an hour passed we asked what happened with our food. The waitress then told me that the kitchen was stuck and there were only 2 chefs. A table by me had been there before us and they were also waiting over an hour for the food. The waitress told us that it was only her and her peer. The issue is that they sat us and did not alert us that the kitchen was going to be slow. And the waitress didn’t even told us either. No one told the waitress about the kitchen condition until I asked about it. Just poor communication. If they had been respectful enough to tell us that the food would take at least an hour. Mind you we did not order much food either. The waitress told us that the food would be cooked after the folks that had been there for over an hour were served. So it would have been another 30 mins wait. For appetizer we got cheese fried balls and they never came. When I asked the waitress said oh we do not have any (after an hour!). We paid for the water and juice and left. To the management: if your kitchen is slow either alert the customers so they can make their own choice wether to stay or leave or simply close tables. A wasted hour plus we left hungry to Metropol in Hato Rey. And Aire Libre is left with a bad review minus the money that we would have paid for our food. I will never return to this place ever. Came here by chance. The rest is located in a quiet corner of Santurce under a huge tree that co tributes to the nice ambience of the place. One plus was that there was plenty of parking in an otherwise very difficult area to park. Upon arriving, we sat ourselves as the staff was not paying attention to us. No biggie. The first waitress that came to take care of us was a bit rude. However, all others were OK. We were t for some appetizers of carne frita and chícharos de pollo with a side of arroz mamposteao. The rice was good. The meat was super salty, though, to the point I had my feet super swollen. Drinks were OK and with the nice ambience, it made for a nice time. They had a small cava in the back. The person taking care of that was super rude and dismissive. Too bad for them as I enjoy a good wine too. Overall, will give it a try but for me it will be a good spot for beers/drinks and some picadora, but not sure I will go for...

The food was delicious however the service was absolutely awful. We arrived there about 2 hours before closing and were 1/3 parties there. We placed our orders within 15 minutes of being there. The appetizers came out pretty fast. Dish 1 was a bit slow but came out. The last 2 dishes were placed at the same time and took 1 hour for it to come out, when it did, one of them had a hair in it. During this time the workers were sitting in the back corner talking and attending to us at all. We had to wave him down so he could check on our order. Then had to wait another 15-20 mins before it came out. Workers were not attentive to us at all and we constantly had to repeat ourselves or they would walk away in the middle of us talking to them.
