Sora & Oak Sushi & Whiskey Bar — Restaurant in Sandusky

We just happened to come across this restaurant while searching on Google for a place to eat lunch. Let me tell you, we were very pleasantly surprised!! From the moment we walk in till the moment we left everything was awesome!! The place has a great atmosphere, quality sushi, and friendly service!! The food was great!! I loved that the tea is served in a pot for multiple servings. If you go, you must try the Salmon Bao buns for an appetizer. They will not dissapoint. We Also had salmon Nigiri and Eel Nigiri for an appetizer and it was on point! We ordered 3 amazing sushi rolls, and even a cheesecake that was to die for!!! I believe it was a white chocolate raspberry.... We didnt have any of the alcohol drinks because I was shopping with my daughter before she goes back to college and neither of us were really feeling like it. We came to Sora & Oak excited to try their menu, and overall, the food did not disappoint — everything we were able to try was delicious. The sea urchin was fresh and flavorful, and the udon soup had a comforting, rich broth that really hit the spot.

However, the service experience left a lot to be desired. We were especially excited about ordering the LA galbi, but after waiting over 45 minutes, we were told they had run out — a major letdown that could’ve been communicated much earlier. On top of that, we requested a takeout order of udon soup, but it was never placed by our server.

My partner and I come to Sora and Oak about once a week and it never disappoints! We've gone through most of the menu at this point, everything a hit, some of our favorite rolls being the Hawaiian, Scorpion Sting, and Lavaland. The quality of the fish is outstanding. The salmon melts in your mouth! I absolutely love that they have so many vegan options (though I am not vegan, they are still delicious) and that they have so many creative rolls that aren't seen on other sushi menus.
