Blown away!! Phenomenal experience 🤠 words cannot express how I feel about this place. I walked in at 8:00. Did I realize they closed that early. They let did not turn me away and did not make me feel like doo doo for being there. Extremely accommodating and truly cared about my experience. More than once he said. Don't worry we're not going to kick you out. Take as long as you want. We want you to make sure you have a nice dinner. And they were true to their word. Anywhere else they would have turned me away. And all I wanted was a fresh, healthy salad which is impossible to find anymore. I've had a rough few days traveling and the last thing I wanted was either junk food or highly processed chain food. Dollie's was sent from the heavens to me LOL. I used to go to Sweet tomatoes back in the day, and the owner realized the brilliancy of that franchise and not only mirrored it but took it to a different level. I could Tell the owner truly cares about their business, their employees and their customers by the way I was treated and in the way the facility was set up and ran. The place was spotless and immaculately clean. The food was super fresh. Cannot express enough how great your stuff was. You couldn't find anything wrong if you wanted to. Everybody was trained very well and were genuinely kind and friendly. Bella was my server and I wanted to say thank you so much for being very friendly and kind to me. The manager, I believe his name was Chris. I'm sorry if I got it wrong. He went over and above to make sure I felt welcomed and that I got everything I needed. I even interacted with a few other employees and they were all just as kind and accommodating. It's very rare to find a restaurant that runs this well. Yeah you may just say it's only a buffet but you know what, I've received better service here than I did at Ruth's' Chris and that's not a joke. This is a locally owned restaurant, so please show your support! This is absolutely my favorite place to eat in Utah. Food always tastes better when it comes with friendly service and a clean atmosphere. Thank you for making...
Read moreI have great things to say about Dollie's, but I also have some real things to say about it that weren't that great. They are located in the old Sweet Tomatoes location near South Towne mall in Sandy. When you walk in it will look and feel almost exactly like Sweet Tomatoes, down to the carpeting. They re-did the booths but that's about it. The drink options were pretty diverse and I liked that also. I have to say the gentleman working the salad bar was on it. Huge kudos to him, he was hustling. That was the most clean and well stocked salad bar I have ever been to. Another positive, all of the ingredients were fresh, everything looked in good shape. Not one piece of questionable lettuce in the serving container. With that said, there were minimal protein options on the salad bar. I totally get the vegan friendly promotion on the salad bar, but carnivores like meat in their salads. I would strongly recommend adding chicken, ham, turkey, something to the salad bar. The dressings tasted watered down and lacked flavor. The soups were flavorless and frankly gross. The breads were dried out, but the flavors were good, if you can figure out why they are so dry and fix that, the bread bar will be awesome! The honey butter was really good and helped with how dry the bread was. My daughter tried the pasta (and she loves pasta) and could not muster up the intestinal fortitude to eat more than 2 bites because it was so bad. The price for during the week lunch was appx. $15/person. Given the financial times we are in, I guess that is pretty reasonable for an all you can eat buffet. But honestly I probably will not be going back. I will go to a different place for a salad bar experience in the future where they have more protein options and better quality food off the main salad bar. I really wanted to love it here, but I was a bit...
Read moreI am so happy to see a soup and salad place show up again. Dollies uses the exact layout that Sweet Tomatoes did before it closed down in this spot some years back. Including all of the original countertops, seat setups, soup station, pasta area, ice cream, and even ice/soda machine area. When we got there around 1pm on Saturday, it was VERY BUSY. Which is great, because I want this type of place to stay around. By this point you're probably wondering why only 3 stars. Well I'll break it down.
Salad - The salad bar is excellent. While I think they could still use some additional items for a $16-20 salad such as Parmesan or Feta, I still loved it. I could see myself coming here just for this. I give the salad 5/5.
Soup - I tried 3 different soups, and all of them felt, "off". The chicken noodle didn't taste right, and definitely not like I rememberd it back with ST. The veggie soup also was kind of off. I give the soup 3/5.
Bread station - The breads at ST used to be so good. Something tasted kind of sour with them though. And just, not done. I'm wondering if it's the high demand from being so busy during their opening? 2/5.
Pasta - The pastas were decent. I have no complaints about them. I'd imagine on a less busy day I wouldn't have to scrape the bucket to get some haha. 4/5
Ice cream machine - broken. 0/5
Overall, i'll come back and try it again in a few weeks/months to see how it's improved. But for now, I'd probably still prefer...
