Tucked away in a humble abode, "The Philadelphian" sandwich shop is the epitome of a hidden gem. Despite its modest setting, the flavors that explode from their offerings are anything but. Our venture led us to order the kids combo burgers and two Philly cheesesteaks, which was an experience akin to discovering culinary treasure.
The kids combo burgers were an immediate hit with the youngsters. Perfectly charred, juicy, and packed with flavors, they were promptly devoured with glee. Accompanied by a hearty portion of crispy fries, it was a satisfying meal that brought smiles all around.
Now, the Philly cheesesteaks were a revelation. The first bite is a transportive experience, taking you straight to the bustling streets of Philadelphia. The steak was tender, seasoned to perfection, melding effortlessly with the melted provolone and a medley of sautéed onions. Encased in a fresh hoagie roll that was the right amount of crispy and soft, every bite was a delightful meld of textures and flavors.
The unassuming facade of "The Philadelphian" belies the culinary expertise at work behind the scenes. The service was warm and prompt, ensuring a smooth and hearty meal that left us yearning for more. Read moreBased on online ratings - My wife and I went there the day after the Eagles victory in the BS52. Disappointed that they didn't have a single hint of the Philly sports environment. That was telling for a place calling them self the Philadelphian. Note, we just moved to Utah from the Philly area - expert and credible. So we ordered cheese steaks, as was our intent. Ordered with fried onions - got fresh onions. Other options for a cheese steak were definitely Utah themed adds. Didn't have sweet peppers or a 'special sauce'. Mayo - lettuce - tomato -are not typical choices at a Cheese Steak eatery in the Philly area. Had 'fry sauce'... not for my tastes. The roll was OK - not Amoroso. Cheese was provolone - not white american (didn't see a cheese whiz option . - but that was OK) The portions were very good for the $$ spent. Plenty of meat. The steak was medium thickness but tough - a sign that it wasn't turned enough in the cooking process - of a skilled cook. Also the meat was extremely salty. To the point where we couldn't and didn't want to finish what we had. Summary - better than other Utah want a be's - but for a place claiming they have been there since 1988 - they are definitely attracting an un-schooled Utah crowd. Best of luck - we...
Read moreVery disappointed. Went based on a recommendation from a friend. I don’t like leaving bad reviews because I like to think that everyone can have a bad night here or there. This didn’t seem like just a bad night, I saw everyone’s food come out the same and similar complaints that others voiced but I didn’t. I simply threw my food away after a few bites and left. Nice staff, but I had to give the guy my order three times in person and he and the cooks still got it wrong., like completely wrong. The steak was flavorless and the cheese not melted. There was so much breading on the onion rings and clumped up they came out like a raw dough ball. I asked for my cheesesteak with only mayo (specified meat, cheese and mayo only) and it came out fully dressed with no mayo). I’m not one to waste food so I just scraped all the toppings off the top but was unable to pick out all the lettuce. The fries were undercooked and oily/soggy. If you want a good cheesesteak, you can’t go wrong with Moochies. Also, I’m all about a hole in the wall establishment that’s been there for decades but from the gross ceilings and air vents that seemingly have never been cleaned, it didn’t even have a hole in the wall feel, it was just...
