Old Kings Road does not disappoint. An ice cold pint of Cider was just what the doctor ordered.(I'm not really a doctor, but I did order the cider for the two of us.) After visiting the Downtown Farmers Market last Tuesday with an old friend ,we decided to stop by and say hello to Patrick ( the Irish bartender) who greeted us warmly in his charming Irish accent. The pub is clean and cozy, the atmosphere is warm and genuine. The fun and laughter is contagious and you just don't want to leave. The pub is well decorated and you can tell a lot of love was put into this place. Beer selection is one of the finest I've ever seen with a nice balance of craft and European beers to choose from. Old Kings Road also features a newly remodeled patio where you can smoke and shoot pool hang out with your friends or make new ones. So do yourself a favor, and pop on down to Old Kings Road. Cuz that wonderful beer is not going to drink...
Read moreExtremely rude bouncer. I walked up after last call looking for a restroom, it was almost 2am so nowhere was open/ everything was closing. Asked if there was anyway I could use the bathroom as I had just been to multiple other bars asking and no one would let me in. He said “it isn’t my fault you DECIDED to pee at 2am”…….. I’m sorry what?? You don’t just decide to pee! I was very nice to him when I came up but was only greeted with rudeness. I work in the service industry myself and understand it’s frustrating to let people in after last call especially on Halloween. I’m sure he was very frustrated with all the drunk college students around but there is absolutely no reason to be rude about it. And when I asked where I could find a different restroom he said “I don’t know everything is closing”. Thanks for the obvious information and the...
Read moreEverytime we have gone in, we feel as if we're back in Merry Ole England. It's a great bar - dive bar which means it's filled with characters. Each visit has been different and I usually get a half pint of Caffery's Creamy Ale, the hub gets a pint of Stella Artois or Guiness. There are hardly any bars in the Santa Barbara area that have that same dive feel. Stay away from politics and you should be fine. Everyone is pretty friendly. I sure do miss Poppette who used to tend bar there. It's right near Joe's so drop in for a pint when you're in the area!. There is a back area where there is a pool...
