I had to share this experience somewhere because this literally haunted me forever. They contacted me about a job for an ambassador position which I applied to. I come to find out they no longer had the program but only once they basically omitted that to me on email correspondence and phone call. They manipulated me into coming in for an interview just to ask me if I wanted a receptionist position. Mind you, I had a higher position at my current job at the time and they wanted someone to come in weekends. Of course, I don't want that position. THAT SUCKS. I asked someone to watch my child and took time off work for that interview just for them to corner me for what I thought was valuable work experience. Not only was it not that, the literal questionaire they haven't bothered to take down asks what your profession goals are. I don't care if I break all ties with this company. People should know this employer is manipulative. I literally stood my ground and declined the offer to this job I had my hopes up for and went to my car and cried thinking this was going to be a good experience. I applied to so many jobs and thought this was going to be fruitful. I paid someone to watch my kid for that....
Read moreWe really love catching an exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santa Barbara when we can. They don't always have exhibits going, so it pays to check their website first to make sure they're open. It's not a huge museum, but it's free to the public so who can complain? They've been around for over 50 years, the exhibits are always very interesting, as are the events they occasionally offer. Did I mention free? Here's hoping the temporary closure is safely lifted soon.
