I stayed in Japan for three months and was a professional dj for many years. I am traditionally skeptical of both dj theams and americanized japanese food. This place is the rule, not the exception. The red chili onigiri and ramen, ruled by the last chef from Fire & Hops, is absolutely astounding. Very few places can master the traditional methods to the point where expiramentation actually improves the original. I'm a strict ramen traditionalist, Tokyo style shoyu strict, so for me to say this almost feels like heresy... but it's true. Chef Joseph trained the new owner's wife, and she kills it. What they're doing for the dj community is just as awe inspired. Turntables on display by the front door, record room, locals playing often, and so inviting if you play and bring a stack they'll let you on. No attitude, no ego, just love. The Love is solidified with all ages dj classes... he has people from 15 - 50 learning to mix and cut it up. We need places like this, that take the passion for what they do and love to such a height that it inspires and grows love around it. Please surround this place, support it, grow it. What they're doing here is more than food and dj themed atmosphere. The NA drink program is a testament to this love. Drinking and party culture kills the spirit of djing, especially for the youth. I'll be letting everyone i know about this place, I hope you do too. You may see me cutting it up next time you come in, fingers stuck to the wax from yakitori sticks hanging...

Read moreMy Fiancé and I are on a road trip from Tucson, AZ. We stopped into Santa Fe mainly for Meow Wolf and after that amazing experience decided we needed a local cup of coffee to continue the journey. A 5 star local coffee shop is hard to find in Tucson... and when I saw the reviews at this place I was skeptical. All I can say is after wrestling with finding a parking spot (just how the area is set up) and a nice walk down to the shop... it is without a doubt a 5 star coffee shop. Walking up and through their little covered patio (nice plant selection) we were immediately greeted by the barista (a very friendly gentleman) and great old school hip hop while we waited. The coffee didn't take long and honestly I wished it would have taken a bit longer (only joking) to keep soaking in the amazing little place. Records, chess boards, Tarot cards (my fiancé loves reading), music and just the vibe alone. It was so inviting and I truly wish we had something like this in Tucson. Thank you for the delicious coffee and the fancy straws and wonderful experience. We both will visit again when we come back...
