It’s a great old bar with style and great bartenders, some of the best around. Food can be good too. But they changed the menu months ago and website still not updated, went away from good sharing bar food, and took away most everything I got on a regular basis. Good nachos - gone. Cobb salad - gone. Chicken Sandwich - gone. Added weird non Santa Fe things like poke nachos (no normal nachos) and tater tots. Can’t order the taco you want. Now you have to order 3 without choice and take what they give you, get a fish taco even if you can’t eat fish. Just weird decisions so I go from eating regularly here to drinks and have to eat elsewhere.
So staff is great but the overall management coming from the hotel is out of touch. Recent history had Credit card machine and then computers went down in October and fixed in March! 6 months. Should have had a fix, even if temporary,...
Read moreThis review is for what I call the Staab House, a bar in this hotel with an English library decor. It started our first night out in Santa Fe, and brought me down more than when my Doc told me I would need Cataract Surgery. Service at the bar was cold, deadpan and impersonal. The patrons appeared snooty, Waspish preppy, very Episcopalian (Whatever that means), and they looked right through me as if they were SS, and I was a Jew living in Warsaw in 1940. We were not welcome at the Staab House. That was quite evident. We quickly downed our drinks, paid our bill, and took off with a large sigh of relief. I had escaped the Gestapo and would live another day, never to return to the Staab House, Julia's,...
Read moreThe buffet was not worth the money. The food was good but a lot of it was cold and the service was mediocre. Many dishes were empty and took a long time to refill and the dessert bar was fair at best . A 20% gratuity service fee was added to our bill that was not mentioned in the advertisement of the buffet. 20% was extremely high for a server that only brought drinks and didn't do that very well. Had out-of-town guests that we were going to impress and failed miserably. Don't waste your time or money on La Posada Thanksgiving Buffet. This reflects terribly on the upstanding hotel. So disappointing. Our out-of-town guests left with a bitter taste in their mouth...
